Where is Jesus as the messiah described and mentioned in the old testament? Does the old testament tell how he will come? If so do you know where or what verses it is in. TY.

Here’s a list of common Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah:

Isaiah 7:14 - Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Zechariah 9:9 - Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Micah 5:2 - But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days.

Isaiah 53:7 - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.

Isaiah 9:6 - For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

My favorite Prophecy about the coming of The Messiah is Isiah 61, which later being read by Jesus Himself after he cameback from fasting in the dessert. By reading this passage Jesus proclaim Himself as the fulfilment of that very passage !

Because the LORD has anointed me
To bring good news to the afflicted;
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

What is amazing about what Jesus does NOT say from ISAIAH 61 in Luke is the last phrase “The day of vengenance of the Lord”. We should be very grateful that He chose to close the book and is saving that prophecy for a latter date!

Also I have seen some do a probability study that one man could fufill just 8 (e.g., be born in Bethlehem, ride a donkey as a King) … you just took 8 prophecies and assigned a probability that one man could fuffill all eight, the odds would be so astronomical, like one chance in 16 Trillion. There is no doubt about Jesus yet so many do not wish to believe the Bible and in Jesus Christ.

Thank you for the statistics. They are very valuable! I have come to believe atheists are very stubborn and hard-headed! It seems to be en vogue these days to not believe in Christ rather than to consecrate one’s life to him. I don’t care how unfashionable I am - I belong to Christ! 🙂

I am Roman catholic and have never doubted that Jesus is the messiah. I was just ignorant as to why the Muslims could think that He was not. I just wanted all of the verses that I could get my hands on to show my friend even though it did not a bit of good. No matter what you show her she still insist that Muhammad was the messiah. I finally let it go and decided to simply pray that the Holy Spirit guide her to the truth. Thank you so much for the information. I learned a lot more than I knew.
