Flat out, is there any evidence for God’s existence in the universe? I mean, evolution is fact, therefore if God exists He caused that. But…does that really make sense, spiritually? Does God cause mutations, control the wind to blow a certain way, cause a tree to fall? Cannot all these things be explained naturally as we study them? Anotherwords we can study why the wind blew here, we can study the mutation, we can study the reasons for the tree falling, so where is there room left for God?

And if God is eternal, can you not use the same argument for matter and energy in the beginning? Can you not suggest that the singularity of the universe, before it became the big bang, can you not suggest it just always existed as well? Things pop in and out of existence in quantum mechanics all the time.

My question is, where is God in all of this? And how can you blame one for not believing when the origin to so many things…practically EVERYTHING can be explained naturally?

How is it that God formed Jeremiah in the womb especially when we now know how children develop?

these are serious questions, and got my mind running.

I think micro-evolution is fact, but not the origin of new species. I just don’t believe man just evolved. So man began as a little single cell animal…procreated by himself (asexual)…and then one day found a woman with exactly the same number of chromosomes which matched up and then began heterosexual reproduction? Naa… I believe God created new species.

God bless you!

Science is bound by the laws it discovers and nothing it says is definitive (a new law can be trumped by a newer law), so it cannot penetrate into the supernatural. However, using philosophy and reason, we can discover God.

I respect your beliefs, but evolution is extremely well supported, and micro leads to macro given enough time. Please, let’s not turn this into another evolution/creation thread. 🙂

I’m still confused. Again, is there any evidence for God beside emotional? (which isn’t an evidence.)

Yes, there’s plenty of rational, philosophical confirmation of God’s existence, and scientific information in no way necessarily denies this reality. You’ll find some helpful essays here:

What do you mean by “explained naturally”? This is the critical question. If you explain things in terms of energy and matter and the laws of nature, then what have you explained? You certainly haven’t explained where energy and matter and the laws of nature come from, why they exist, and in the form in which they exist.

Can you “explain naturally” why there is something rather than nothing?

Every atom, every photon in the universe is evidence for God. Why would you assume otherwise?

Why are you asking serious questions and why is your mind running?

It seems that this tendency of yours is designed to draw you out of yourself toward something completely other.

On the contrary, the theory of macro-evolution (or, properly speaking, Darwinism) is NOT “extremely well supported” and, in fact, has several well documented embarassing holes and unbridgable gaps.

You can’t just toss out a controversial and debatable theory (“evolution is a fact” “micro leads to macro given enough time”) and just expect people to swallow it sheep-like and not challenge you or offer debate upon it. If you didn’t want it to be part of the issue, you shouldn’t have mentioned it.

Yeah I agree, but my atheists friends do not and use counter arguments such as: “you say God has always just existed, why not energy and matter as well?” And the argument becomes circular.

Hey Fidelis, kindly back off pal. I don’t want this thread to become another 1000 creation (6 day literal nonesense creation) vs. evolution. I wished for people of the same mind set of God’s creation (God using evolution as His tool) to fellowship. That’s why I’m mentioning “evolution.”

So please, don’t try and agrue against it unless you want to begin a 1001 thread on it.

P.S. Darwinism IS extremely well supported, there’s a mountain of evidence in it’s favor. But again, save that for another thread.

Apparently your atheist friends don’t really believe in science, because if there’s one thing science teaches it is that the universe had a beginning, and that it will have an end. It takes special pleading - one could easily call it faith 🙂 - to deny the truth which science presents regarding the life of the universe, because one wants a different answer.

I also like to invoke Occam’s Razor here. God is perfectly simple, and explains everything about the universe. The universe is incredibly complex, and explains nothing about itself. So Occam’s Razor would seem to favor God over some infinite set of universes, existing forever.

I agree, they just say things like “perhaps something of the matter and energy was different in that state until it exploded, can’t prove it just like you can’t ‘prove’ God.”

Then they’l say things like there are so many religions and differences of opinon so how do you know you’re right and all others wrong?

There seems to be a tendency that draws all persons towards the divine. There is a basic need for the divine. It appears in all cultures and at all times in history.

Why does this tendency exist?
Not all persons, there are some who can never can car eless about spirituality, I know few. Though generally, your statement is true, just not exact.
