He married her when she was 6, but had sex with her only when she was 9. She was probably pretty mature for her age, so its not so bad…right?
Would you think it was OK if some middle-aged man had sex with YOUR nine year old daughter???

geez, I can’t believe that you wrote that.

Go check out the videos I provided on post #17.

Imagine Anthony Quinn having sex with Ashley Olsen circa her Full House days.

Could none of you realize that was a joke? I thought the sarcasm would be pretty obvious.

It went over my head. Too bad there isn’t a smilie face for sarcasm - I probably would use the guy who shrugs.

I am glad to hear it was a joke though even if I didn’t get it at first.

Having sex with a 9 year old… what if she was ready to have a baby at 9? And many times people say ‘it’s a cultural thing’ with regards to the OT… do Muslims think it’s just a cultural thing; In our society 12 is way too young for this, would it be horrible if Aisha was 12?

What age is appropriate for having sex in marriage, is it subjective, or has God given us a definite answer?

I feel like it’s pedophilia, but I suppose I don’t know the definition, especially if the girl is able to conceive.

Islam limited polygamy to a maximum of four wives at one time and stipulated the maintenance of justice as a basic condition for polygamy.
What you said could have made sense IF Muhammed haven’t had 11 wives, its completely illogical for someone (specially a prophet) to make up rules then he himself breaks it, what would it takes if he had controlled his lust and stayed with only 4 according to his rules. 🤷

**Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 5, Number 268: **
Narrated Qatada: Anas bin Malik said, “The Prophet used to visit all his wives in a round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number.” I asked Anas, “Had the Prophet the strength for it?” Anas replied, “We used to say that the Prophet was given the strength of thirty (men).” And Sa’id said on the authority of Qatada that Anas had told him about nine wives only (not eleven).

Polygamy

There is no record of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) opposing polygamy. If he did so, it would have meant that the condemned the practice of the prophets before him. There are a number of examples of polygamous marriages among the prophets recorded in the Torah. Prophet Abraham had two wives, according to Genesis 16:13:** “So after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her maid, and gave her to Abram her husband as a wife.”** So Prophet David, according to the first book of Samuel 27:3, “And David dwelt with Achish at Gat, he and his men, every man with his household, and David with his two wives, Ahin’o-am of Jezreel, and Abigail of Carmel, Nabal’s widow.”

In 1st Kings 11:3, Solomon is said to have “…had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines.” Solomon’s son, Rehobo’am, also had a number of wives, according to 2nd Chronicles 11:21,** “Rehobo’am loved Ma’acah the daughter of Absalom above all his wives and concubines (he took eighteen wives and sixty concubines, and had twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters).”**

In fact, the Torah even specified laws regarding the division of inheritance in polygamous circumstances. In Deuteronomy 21:15-16, the law states: “15 If a man has two wives, the one loved and the other disliked, and they have borne him children, both the loved and the disliked, and if the first-born son is hers that is disliked, 16then on the day when he assigns his possessions as an inheritance to his sons, he may not treat the son of the loved as the first-born in preference to the son of the disliked, who is the first-born.”

The only restriction on polygamy was the ban on taking a wife’s sister as a rival wife in Leviticus 18:18, “And you shall not take a woman as a rival wife to her sister, uncovering her nakedness while her sister is yet alive.” The Talmud advises a maximum of four wives as was the practice of Prophet Jacob (pbuh).

According to Father Eugene Hillman, “Nowhere in the New Testament is there any explicit commandment that marriage should be monogamous or any explicit commandment forbidding polygamy.” He further stressed the fact that the Church in Rome banned polygamy in order to conform to Graeco-Roman culture which prescribed only one legal wife while tolerating concubinage and prostitution.

Islam limited polygamy to a maximum of four wives at one time and stipulated the maintenance of justice as a basic condition for polygamy. In Chapter an-Nisaa (4):3, God states:

} فَانْكِحُواْ مَا طَابَ لَكُمْ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ مَثْنَى وَثُلاَثَ وَرُبَاعَ فَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ أَلاَّ تَعْدِلُواْ فَوَاحِدَةً … {

“Marry of the women that please you two, three or four. But if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly, then [marry only] one …”

Muslims are therefore following Prophet Jesus (pbuh) in not opposing polygamy.
Hello Hamba,

Seems you like going out of the topic too soon. The question was on age and not on how many marriages once can have. Secondly quoting OT you are taking the topic too far away. Do quote NT.

Since the subject of the age of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when she married the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has once again cropped up, here is a reminder:

On more than one occasion when people were in dire need of water, the blessing of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) saved them. In the sixth year after the he migrated from Mecca to Medina, Muhammad went to Mecca for pilgrimage. In the long journey through the desert, people ran out of all water, only the Prophet was left with a vessel with which he performed ablution for prayers. He put his hand in vessel, water began flowing from between his fingers. Jabir bin Abdullah, who witnessed the miracle, says of the fifteen hundred men, ‘We drank it and made ablution.’ This miracle has been transmitted with an unbroken chain of reliable scholars (hadith mutawatir).

The sprouting of water from human fingers is similar to Prophet Moses’ (pbuh) miracle of producing water from a rock and even more so to the miracle of Prophet Elijah (pbuh) spouting water from his fingers as described in Jewish scriptures.

And from Wikipedia:

Mutawatir (Arabic: متواتر) is an Arabic word meaning “consecutive.” It is often used as an Islamic term within the science of hadith. A hadith is said to be mutawatir if it was reported by a significant number of narrators at each chain in the narration, and therefore through multiple chains of narration leading back to Muhammad. This provides confirmation that the hadith is sahih to a level beyond reasonable doubt, as it is beyond historical possibility that narrators could have conspired to forge a narration. Hadiths can be mutawatir in both actual text and meaning.

In contrast, an ahaad hadith is a narration which at some point in the chain has only a single narrator.

The point here is that for those who are continually harping on the age of A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she married the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), remember that what you are proclaiming as an undeniable fact is actually a hadith which has been recorded based on her recollection alone.

On the other hand, in the case of the miracle described above, it is recorded as a hadith mutawatir i.e. an authentic hadith which is exceptionally strong to “a level beyond reasonable doubt”.

And so, if indeed you do believe the veracity of the hadith regarding A’ishah’s age at the time of her marriage, then there really is no reason at all why you should have any doubts whatsoever about the veracity of this hadith mutawatir describing the miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) sprouting water from his fingers.

In short, if Christians are indeed insisting to see a miracle of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as “proof” that he is a true Prophet, then you have just been provided one.

And what this also means is that Christians and other non-Muslims cannot have it both ways here i.e. if they choose to believe the relatively weaker hadith concerning Aisha’s age at the time of her marriage, then they cannot at the same time turn around and say that they do not believe the hadith mutawatir describing the miracle of water sprouting from the fingers of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

That was a completely good reply on the subject from hamba (post #10). hamba has shown the mirror to the Catholics by presenting good material from the scripture. But it has no value for the christians because they have parted ways with their respectable seniors i.e. The Jews. There is a complete law with the Jews.

The christians are making their own law from their minds and wishes. Could that be as good as the God made laws?? Hope not. At least I was attracted and convinced by the post from hamba on monogamy / polygamy.

After mohamad married her, she was with him (according to the hadiths) for 9 years and then he died of poisoning.

During that time, Aisha did not have any children. You would think that once she became a teen that should would conceive. I believe that her internal system was damaged as a young girl that giving birth would not be possible. That’s what I believe.

And I’ve always said on this board.

We are not talking about an average Joe Arab in the 7th century marring a young girl. We are talking about a “prophet” of God.

Muslims will go all out to talk about kings and prince’s who married little girls before and after mohamads time. Who cares?

They, these kings… etc… were **NOT **prophets of God as mohamad claimed to be.

Are Christians now saying that Abraham, Jacob and David (peace be upon them), all of whom did indeed practice polygamy, are NOT considered Biblical prophets??

Where is THAT in the Bible?

When and where did Abraham and/or Jacob and/or David ever say that God specifically revealed to His people that polygamy was ordained by Him?

(And BTW, Abraham was NOT married to Hagar. We’ve had this discussion NUMEROUS times on these fora. The phrase used “Sarah gave Hagar to Abraham “to be his wife”” was a euphemism for sexual intercourse.)

And the topic is the Quran, not the Bible!!!

OK, Abraham was not married to Hagar. He just had sex with her and she conceived his child. So what is worse really?

What are the choices of which is worse? Polygamy or conceiving a child out of wedlock? Either one is a sin. 🤷

And the topic is the Quran not Abraham and the Bible!!! Don’t let hamba go off topic.

Hamba, I absolutely agree with you that one cannot choose to believe one and reject the other, but to this end, I have also no choice but to be absolutely crude on this cos without this ‘‘explanation’’, we’ll really just be beating around the bush.

So, how DID muhammad manage to have sex with little biologically underaged 9 year old Aisha? There can really only be 3 possibilities bearing in mind that she at 9 years old is biologically UNDERAGED.

Let’s start with muhammad…

Starting Point: HOW could muhammad even get an arousal with an undeveloped infant? Muhammad was 53…she was 9 ! Wouldn’t he be oversized for her? So how?

Possibilities :

1 - The hadith is corrupted in its recording, meaning the entire book of Bukhari should be scrapped.
2 - Muhammad being bigger had forced himself on ayesha (amounting to rape)
3 - Islam’s allah made Aisha un-naturally mature for muhammad’s enjoyment (amounting to making islam’s allah a pimp)

OR…(an unlikely possibility since muhammad had 11 wives). Muhammad actually had a tiny sexual organ and had no problem doing it with her, but then we will have to also revert to the Starting Point above.

Which one would muslims think the most likely possibility??? You see, no matter how we look at it and using all logical sensibilities, the pedophilic act of muhammad cannot be denied.

muslimsopenyoureyes.blogspot.com

PS. I have no problems with muslims calling muhammad their prophet. But I have a problem with them calling him a prophet of MY God after committing all these atrocious acts.

What are the choices of which is worse? Polygamy or conceiving a child out of wedlock? Either one is a sin. 🤷

Well I mean she is trying to say that Abraham and David were guilty of things too…the difference is that the stories of Muhammad are historically accurate while the story of Abraham and David are only told in the Bible. There are no outside sources that support the existence of Abraham and for David, we have the Merneptah Stele that mentions the line “House of David” which seems to be talking about David’s kingdom. But that is all we know about David from outside sources…that he had a kingdom.

There are indeed conflicting ahadith regarding the age of A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she married the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)… but there are absolutely NO conflicting ahadith, either mutawatir or otherwise, regarding the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) sprouting water from his fingers, none whatsoever.

And so again I wish to point out that people who readily believe the hadith which reports A’ishah being six at the time of her marriage, would have really no reason at all to doubt the veracity of the mutawatir hadith regarding the miracle of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) sprouting water from his fingers.
