My thinking is that those who go online and are not redirected to a priest who acts in the Person of Christ in the Sacraments, are missing out a lot.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a Tribunal (of mercy) where sins are confessed as sins, doubts as doubts, etc.

The penitent then receives the graces, profitable counsel, penance, and forgiveness with the accompanying peace and joy.

Saints have always encouraged frequent confession.

I believe I recently read that Cardinal Dolan goes every two weeks.

My thinking is that the last 2 weeks was impossible for me to go to confession, one with a very long line and time running out, the other two the priest was not available during the assigned times. The base chaplain turned me and my kids away, saying we go every week (we went from 1 to 4 times a month), implying that we went too much, so some bad experiences for me along with a feeling of discouragement and wishing that we can be like the protestants and go directly to God.🤷

I can understand how you felt.

Remember Obedience is better than Sacrifice.

The priest maybe could have communicated better but you go to confession to him and he knows you and your kids. He is making a judgment here.

What I would do is speak with him next time you confess to him to understand where he was coming from and what would make sense in your particular cases as to the recommended frequency.

Your finishing wish: worrisome…

I was just saying that in reference to the fact that I am in mortal sin and have been trying the last 2 weeks (3 times at 3 different churches) to go to confession and am feeling very discouraged-feeling like times like this perhaps like protestant just going directly to Jesus especially in light of the fact that this Sunday, I have a PT Test being an air force reservist in my late '40s, there is always a chance that I can fall out with a heart attack or something. Just want so bad to not end up damned, you know? It is quite scary thinking of the prospect of things.
