Where is the Catholic outrage over recent American immigration policies?

There are 7 BILLION people out there.

How many can the USA absorb?

Legally, we absorb about one million per year … who have filled out the forms and waited in line.

I never asserted, in any words, that “Detaining someone who is breaking laws is treating them as less than human”

Should a murderer be detained and taken away from his children? Yes.

I’ll help you with your addition problem.

If it fine to detain someone for law breaking
and it’s fine for their children to be well cared for as wards of the state
Then you got nothing
Nobody is being treated as less than human

They are.

And this is an unprecedented crisis. There are 28 million people in Texas. There are 600k cases. This is 2% of the current legal population. This means that for every 50 citizens there is one immigrant. These immigrants and asylum seekers are at least as needy as a high school student, and most decent high schools have a 1:10 ratio.

How do you even begin to equitably deal with the massive number of people? You’d need 1 in 20 man, woman in child in Texas to be working with immigrants.

Please note that legal immigration is still on-going. From countries that the world is demanding we care for. We haven’t stopped welcoming people here legally, although from my understanding those who have HB2’s are delayed 15-20 years at this point from getting a green card.

They come primarly through texas, but also New Mexico and Arizona. My point really was that even our largest (geographic) state can’t handle what’s going on. Adding in two states aren’t going to help.

Again what’s going on is DISGUSTING. But it’s a horrific situation for both immigrants AND those in the US.
