Where is the proper place to bury a baby?

Hi, I just miscarried my baby two days ago and I was wondering if it’s okay to have buried him in our backyard. Since the baby was so small I didn’t know where else to do it. Is it accepted by the Church?

This has been very hard on my husband and me and we just don’t want to keep the baby there if it’s not the right thing to do.

I’m so sorry for your loss and pray that God will comfort and heal you and your husband.

The Church would not have a problem with burying your child on your property. A priest could bless the grave for you, if you wish. I only caution that you check with your local municipality to find out if there are any restrictions on burying human remains on your property. If it is not permitted in your area, then I recommend talking to local cemeteries. Many cemeteries have a special area set aside for the burial of small children.
