The one that came to mind was not biblical it was when the Holy Father told Mother Teresa the more God loves you the more you suffer and Mother Teresa replied I know I just wish he would not hug me so tight.

Thank you, Toni. This is getting much closer to what I was looking for, and may in fact be the one! Thank you so much! The Holy Father’s words are so true, I think, and maybe they are what I read. I can’t tell you where this occurs in Scripture…I’m no good at that sort of thing…but here is the quote:

“As gold is tested in fire, so the servants of God are tested in the crucible of suffering”

I’m sure far more capable than I on The Board can give you the actual reference details should you wish…

1 Cor 1:3-5

For as Christ’s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow.

1 Pet 4:13-14

But rejoice to the extent that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice exultantly. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
