wisdom 3:5:
How about wisdom 3:5? šŸ‘‹

Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself.
Thatā€™s a wonderful citation, friend, and I see it is your username, too! Not the one Iā€™m looking for, but beautiful nonetheless! Thank you and Happy Christmas to you! šŸ™‚

2Cor 12:9-10 ā€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.ā€ I will rather boast most gladly of my weakness, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

Thank you, st felicity, this is a beautiful passage also, but not the one I am looking for. God bless! šŸ™‚

hey nightrider - is a certain u2 song coming to mind now? šŸ˜‰
You got my curiosity up now, jeffreedy789! Which U2 song would that be? I like them a lot, but am not as familiar with all their songs like you might be! Which song would it be, pray tell? :hmmm:

Oh! jeffreedy789, might the U2 song be the one that refrains ā€œ*I still havenā€™t found what Iā€™m lookinā€™ forā€ *? Ha ha!! šŸ˜‰

The one that came to mind was not biblical it was when the Holy Father told Mother Teresa the more God loves you the more you suffer and Mother Teresa replied I know I just wish he would not hug me so tight.

Thank you, Toni. This is getting much closer to what I was looking for, and may in fact be the one! Thank you so much! The Holy Fatherā€™s words are so true, I think, and maybe they are what I read. I never saw Mother Teresaā€™s response before though!!! I know what she means!! Many blessings to you!

Does anyone know where the passage is in the Bible that says something to this effect: those who suffer the most are closest to the Lord? or those who suffer the most are closest to God? I simply cannot remember where Iā€™ve read that! Please help! I need this for something I am writing! Thanks in advance, everyone! šŸ™‚
Hi there NightRiderā€¦good to meecha in cyberspace!

I see from your Profile you hail from WAā€¦Iā€™m taking this that that is Western Australiaā€¦been thereā€¦got quite a few friends thereā€¦Perth is a beautiful cityā€¦

I canā€™t tell you where this occurs in Scriptureā€¦Iā€™m no good at that sort of thingā€¦but here is the quote:

ā€œAs gold is tested in fire, so the servants of God are tested in the crucible of sufferingā€

Iā€™m sure far more capable than I on The Board can give you the actual reference details should you wishā€¦

There are two which I havenā€™t seen posted (so if they are, please forgive me for reposting them here). From the NAB translation:

1 Cor 1:3-5
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all encouragement, who encourages us in our every affliction, so that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction with the encouragement with which we ourselves are encouraged by God. For as Christā€™s sufferings overflow to us, so through Christ does our encouragement also overflow.
1 Pet 4:13-14
But rejoice to the extent that you share in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice exultantly. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

Hello there NighRiderā€¦great to cathchup with you again :bounce: and hoping I can be of more help.

Father Michael Fallon, MSC, is a South Aussie and a Scripture Scholar of some note and also very helpful. If you email him, he may be able to help you. He has an email me facility on his websiteā€¦

Last night a couple of pop ups on my desktop appeared with a greating from you and my Yahoo email address tagā€¦are you from Western Australia, or Sydney?šŸ¤“ ā€¦

Another thing that may help you is to contact a Catholic Seminary and ask your questionā€¦they have experts more or less ā€˜on siteā€™ who could be of help to you.
