Where might I locate

Dear friends in Christ,

I just finished reading a book by a Catholic theologian and councelor.

It has a Bishops Imprmatur and a Imprimi Potest and is printed by a catholic publisher.

In it is a recommendation that if a catholic were to marry or have as a spouce a Fundamentalist Cristinan that it might be a good idea to teach and expose their children to both sets of faith beliefs. In another spot, the idea of differing faiths having value [equality seems to me implied] is expressed.

I am aware of what the catechism teaches. NOTE please I’m not looking for anything except a reference that can help me make [CC teaching] sense of this position.

My question is:

IS THERE A DIRECT OR IMPLIED BIBLE REFERENCE THAT INDICATES OUR BLESSED LORDS POSITION ON ACCEPTING DIFFERING SETS OF FAITH VIEWS?

Is anyone aware of such a bible position?

Used to be that those who married Catholics were required to sign a paper saying the children would be raised Catholic, that is how strongly the Church felt that children should be exposed to one and only one religion, and that one the correct one!

Those who marry Catholics are no longer required to sign a paper about it, but I believe the Church still wants them to be aware of the Catholic spouse’s obligation to raise the children in the Catholic Faith.

WRT your book, it may be that there was a misunderstanding somewhere along the line, or it may be that an error occurred. However, the Church does not promote this idea as it can so easily lead to indifferentism.

There are no Bible references to the Protestant churches as they did not exist until 1500 years later. Protestant churches do have value to the extent that they teach valid Christianity. Protestants as individuals may be better Christians than many Catholics but their Churches can never be the equal of the apostolic Church.

In a Catholic-Protestant marriage, the Catholic is obligated to do everything in his power to raise the children in the Catholic faith. He is also obligated to preserve unity and harmony in the marriage for the sake of the children. There are always going to be compromises between those two principles. This is exactly why mixed marriages should be avoided as much as possible.
