Where Muhammad gets his science wrong

I can’t comment for Muslims in general, but I know it is often used to gain converts, and I had a Muslim guy posting me “miraculous science” stuff for a few weeks. So it is a well-recognized claim of Muslims, which needs to be repudiated.
As you can see one Muslim poster hamba2han has been posting extensively on the topic, so it is obligatory for us to defend our faith
It comes up on other fora all the time

You know, I think this one has got ham stumped! So we can conclude that the Koran is not inspired by God, it is the product of either Muhammad or Satan himself. Look at the effect that book has had on the world, inspiring hatred and violence - that shows who the author is - the Father of Lies, the Chief of All Deceivers, our adversary the Devil.

May our Muslim posters and lurkers turn to the Bible to truly learn about God, a God of love and mercy. A God who says that hungering for righteousness is more important than having a beard or praying in a certain posture.

While it is true the real problem is that Muhammad was no real prophet, I think the science part is not that big of a problem. After all, the Bible gets a few things wrong in science as well. But since it is a book of faith & not science, it is not that big a deal.

well the difference is that we don’t claim the Bible must be true because of the supernatural science
if we did, we could expect the same analysis by Muslims
Muhammad merely takes the current wisdom of the era, nothing supernatural there at all - but he claims it is from God. therefore he is either lying or deluded.
Muslims claim that the Koran is the literal word of God, so it leaves very little room for explanations for any defective science

🙂 So are we to understand they are even dumber than we 1st thought ?? 🙂

:ouch:
no, they have been brought up to believe certain things without questioning and many lack the education you and I take for granted

The “Cat’s Eye Nebula” re-dubbed the “Red Rose Nebula” by the Islamists is actually blue-green in the optical spectrum. That single picture used by the Islamists is only red because it was photoshopped by NASA to be red from an X-ray image. Most nebulae are blue-green.

It’s amazing, they present this as evidence after only picking a red shot of it. And wowee! It’s red!

Moslems are putting forward the Koran as a work of science -it’s one of their proofs that it’s inspired by a divine force.

Take that away and that argument has nothing to stand on

We Christians went through a period of that. Scientificaly we grew, but they are still in the dark ages. … but they did invent distilling :extrahappy: wine can now become brandy 🙂

Actually it was the Chinese who invented distillation in the Han Dynasty - between 200BC to 200AD. There is evidence that the Eastern Han Dynasty knew distillation although there is no evidence that it was used for spirits (25-200AD).

Some claim that the Chinese discovered crude distillation of wine even earlier, as early as 800BC.

"Actually, it is now well-known that the Chinese were already using crude distillation methods to produce fortified spirits from fermented rice wine as early as 800 BC. Egyptians and Greeks were distilling grape wine in 400 BC. "
classicliquors.com/history.htm

Jabir Ibn Hayyan is often credited to have invented distillation around 800AD. However, what he invented was the alembic still, and this has been confused as the invention of distillation itself.

They do nice embroidery, but that is not really scientific I guess. It could be, but its not serious science.

I did not know that Rodrigo 😛

Yea, I think Christians were the 1st to use the method for spirits.

and great carpets! they’ve made a virtue of necessity, because they are not allowed to make images of living things, they ended up making lovely geometric patterns
I visited a carpet-making factory in Turkey - very labour-intensive as it’s all hand-knotted

So which parts of the human body is not covered by that second explanation? The rump? An overhanging beer gut? Parts of the face? The toes?

That makes the explanatory power of that verse especially great, knowing that practically the entire human body is covered and the sperm can come from almost anywhere on the human body.

I’m convinced. Where do I sign up?
😃

PS: since Muhammad performed no miracle to the dismay of many Muslims, the focus is on the Quran’s eloquence and science as a sign of divine origin. Maybe the apocrypha in the Quran are a sign of divine origin as well? or the Judeo-Christian legends? Allah knows best.

If Muslims suggest that the understanding of science shown by their prophet Muhammad is so profound as to be supernatural, then they must accept that if Muhammad gets any science wrong, then he cannot be a messenger from God.

There are two particular statements which fall into my area of expertise:
1)where sperm/semen comes from
2) how many joints there are in the body
I will deal with the latter first as it is easier to deal with
This is undeniably and provenly wrong. Even more revealing, we find that Chinese philosophers said there were 360 joints in the body. So we see that “Muhammad” had an earthly fallible source for his “amazing knowledge”.
We find in the Koran this:This also is very definitely not true! As everyone knows, the spermatazoa come from the testes, and the semen is produced by the addition of fluid from the seminal vesicles and the prostate. Nowhere near the ribs!
So again Mohammed is proved wrong!
So Mohammed did not hear from God, but the deceiver, the Father of Lies, the fallen angel, Lucifer himself.
Please read the following carefully:
what the Koran says is:
فَلْيَنظُرِ الْإِنسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَ﴿86:5﴾
(86:5) Then let man at least consider from what he is created.
(خُلِقَ مِن مَّاء دَافِقٍ﴿86:6
86:6) He is created from a spurting fluid
يَخْرُجُ مِن بَيْنِ الصُّلْبِ وَالتَّرَائِبِ﴿86:7﴾
(86:7) that issues forth from between the backbone and the breast-bones. *3
*3 “Sulb” is the backbone and "tara’ib"the breast- bones, i.e. the ribs.
Since the procreative fluid in both man and woman is discharged from that part of the body which is between the back and the breast, it is said that man has been created from the fluid issuing out froth between the back and the breast. This fiuid is produced even in case the hands and feet are cut off. Therefore, it is not correct to say that it issues out from the whole body of man. In fact, the principal organs of the body are its source and all these are located in the trunk. The brain has not been mentioned separately because the back-bone is that part of the brain through which connection between the body and the brain is established.

what exactly is your point thomling? could you clarify please?
where did you study human anatomy BTW? and embryology?
another mistake by the Koran - procreative fluid from the woman???
again making the mistakes of the time
