Awesome, awesome. And he was dressed in his long black (whaddaya call it) and collar. Gave me a nice rundown of his daily schedule. Someone has posted the schedule somewhere.
If he was wearing what our FSSP priests wear, then it is called a ā€œsoutane.ā€

Soutane or cassock. I believe soutane is the Italian word. Did he have a biretta? I love birettas.
ā€œSoutaneā€ is the French word. I prefer the word, because so many folks mix up ā€œcassockā€ with the black outfit (could be alb) that the altar server wears.

Our two priests wear their birettas, and we all love them–the priests and the birettas! Our new assistant pastor was explaining all about the doffing of the birettas when Our Lord’s Name is said (being the feast of the Holy Name of Jesus). He told us that when he was in the FSSP seminary, some of the teachers would play tricks on the students, to see if they were paying attention, by using the Lord’s Name in a homily or lesson, and seeing if all the birettas were doffed!

So, be ware, my young friends!

Ha! That is absolutely genius! šŸ˜›

I thought it was not only clever, but is an example of how funny these young men can be. Our pastor seems stern, and he is when it comes to the Catholic faith, but he has a wicked sly sense of humor, and so does our new assistant.šŸ™‚

Most definitely. I’ve gone to at least one in my life before. Although the OF is valid, I don’t think there’s even a comparison in terms of spirituality and the way it makes you feel. The Gregorian chant itself puts you in awe, not to mention how the Latin prayers just seem right. I can’t explain it any other way than they just seem to be said the way they were supposed to be said. I suppose maybe that’s because Latin is the official language of the Church? 😃
Just be sure that is what you really want to do. The FSSP does not say the OF, and will not budge on that; it goes beyond just a ā€œcharismā€. You might want to attend a few more just to be sure.

I will pray for you!
