Has anyone here bought a domain name? If so, where did you buy it? I’m trying to avoid the disgusting services like GoDaddy.

Just out of curiosity, why would you not use Hosting Matters? They’re a small company that provides excellent hosting packages with above and beyond customer service. I have just been delighted with them for the last 5+ years…they’ve helped me far more than they have ever been contractually obliged to be, all hours. Have you had a bad experience, or have heard of one? Everyone I know who uses them has rave reviews. You’re the first person I have ever heard publically or privately say not to use them.I actually wouldn’t use either of those sites. (network solutions is known for squatting domains…)
Sorry about that. I’ll take your word for it that they have great service. I don’t have any personal experience with them.Just out of curiosity, why would you not use Hosting Matters? Forgive me: I’ve been out of the domain buying business for a few years now that my domains were all paid for 10 years.Has anyone here bought a domain name? If so, where did you buy it? I’m trying to avoid the disgusting services like GoDaddy.
GoDaddy’s advertisements are nearly pornographic; they all have to do with busty women in skimpy clothing. Why exactly is GoDaddy bad? What do they do that is disgusting?
Good for you. I wouldn’t buy from GoDaddy if they were selling domains for 1 cent each.Has anyone here bought a domain name? If so, where did you buy it? I’m trying to avoid the disgusting services like GoDaddy.
Yes, that was my thought, too. I know next to nothing about the company, but its television ads (particularly during the Super Bowl) are infamous.GoDaddy’s advertisements are nearly pornographic; they all have to do with busty women in skimpy clothing.
Certainly not me, I would think.Just FYI, this thread is 3 years old. It seems to have been resurrected by a spambot looking to promote a particular web domain registration venue.
I don’t have any experience with that company, but hosting costs are pretty low. There isn’t much risk in trying out a host for a month. Unless they force you to pay a year in advance, I would look elsewhere then. For a basic website, pretty much any host will do though. Every host will give you FTP and database access, so you can backup and restore your site to any host (if you know what you are doing). I am assuming you are talking about shared hosting here. I don’t have much experience with virtual private servers, dedicated servers, private servers, etc. Very few people need more than shared hosting.I was searching to get a personal web location and found catholicdomains.org/. Anyone have any experience with their site? It might be worth paying the small price for a trusted name rather than going along with a free hosting service.
