I saw one I like at Sears. I may look at Home Depot tomorrow.

Any other suggestions?

We got a nice cheap one at Target a few years ago. I’d bet Wal-Mart has some as well.

**I don’t have an opinion about where to buy, but have one on what to buy:)

Do look into the pre-lit options!!! Greatest invention since sliced bread:thumbsup:

Spend the extra money on quality. Obviously ones that look more real are great, but also consider how well they are made. Nothing is worse than those sharp little plastic “pine needles” shedding from the tree all season and making their way all over your home (and still finding them 6 months later, lol). Plus the cheaper trees/garlands give me a bad rash and that’s kind of scary:eek:**

We just bought our pre-lit artificial Christmas tree at Lowes this year and we are very happy with it. We first looked at Michael’s, but I refused to buy there because there was no mention of Christmas at all. None. They were selling aritficial trees . . . in the holiday section. Trust me, I looked high and low for even a mention of Christmas. I didn’t see one. I assumed they didn’t want my business.

I think Lowe’s or Home Depot would be good options.

When your pre-lit loses lights, do you have to pitch it and buy another one? I am one of those people who does not like the combo VCR/DVD TV units, because when one part breaks, you have to replace the whole she-bang.

Give me a plain ole tree and strings of lights for .99 cents that I can replace as needed.

My advice, buy used 👍 Someone is selling a great artificial tree because they bought a fancy pre-lit one.

The one we bought has 1,000 lights and does not go dark when it loses light bulbs. I have heard others do that.

I got my present one from Freecycle. The people who had it had set it up ONCE, but lived in a nice neighborhood and did several trees in their large house. It is 7’ and FULL.

If I was buying, I’d look for the fiber optics as well.

I’d also look at Big Lots. They had some huge spruces for $40.

I didn’t care for what I saw at Target or Wal Mart.

I saw a few on the Home Depot website that looked nice. If they look as decent in person, I plan to buy one today.

17 yr old dd is having a hard time w/ the switch from real to fake. Says she losing a piece of her childhood :o .

I’ve had real all my life, too.

**I’ve never had a real tree but I can sympathize with the difficulty of “losing” that tradition. What you might want to do, after setting up your new artificial tree, is get a real wreath. Then you still get that lovely smell and it’s a nice compromise. I had a real wreath once and just loved it. Oh, and if you keep it on your exterior door overnight it will last much longer (if you don’t keep it there all the time). **

I can see more of the ‘trunk’ than I’d like, but the really full trees were more than we were willing to spend.

I do like the ease of set up 👍 . I’ll drag lights out later in the week. Right now, I need to get to my lesson plans!

Ours was similar in that respect, but my wife played with the branches, and you can bend them and fill it out more. I was surprised how filled out it got.

I was at Lowes the other night and they were selling the floor display trees. I did not look to see how much $, but all Christmas stuff was already 50% off.

We got our pre-lit tree about 4 years ago and this year was the first year that we lost a few lights. Only that section went out. We just replaced the burned out lights and we where back in business. I have to second the pre-light trees. If you get the ones that only have that section go out than it’s a breeze to set up. We also use beaded garland instead of the fuzzy stuff. The fuzzy stuff sheds just as bad if not worse than some trees.

Several years ago, just after Christmas, my mom acquired a pure white Christmas tree complete with white lights and ornaments which had been the display in a drug store window. She just happened to be there when they were taking it down and asked what they were going to do with it. They let her have the lot for like $10. Although I don’t usually go for white trees, this one was lovely.

I know you probably want one before Christmas but it is something to consider.
