Hi,
My DD 13 is beginning ccd, I’ve been away for awhile & since my children weren’t raised in any faith, was advised “please don’t force her” to recieve the Sacraments. I understand that completely, what I’ve done is told her You have a commitment (on Monday eve for CCD) for a year & should you decide to continue & go thry the sacraments I will help you do that.

So, I’ve found great info along with the RCIA class, anyone out there have reccomendations for her? She’s a great student who loves to read & ask questions, at her age I had trouble getting answers. Thank you!

student bible from Our Sunday Visitor called “Prove It” with great articles and Q&A for teens by Amy Wellborn

there are a couple of other books in the Prove It series your daughter might enjoy

“A Philadelphia Catholic in King Jame’s Court” authored by
Martin De Porres Kennedy

Its a wonderful Catholic apologetics book written in fiction form. The main character is a teenage Catholic boy who spends a summer in the “bible belt” southern state of Kentucky. While there, he must learn, first About his faith, then how to defend his faith.

I got this book for my 15 year old son, but sadly, he has decided there is no God (wiccan influences from his friends:mad: ) so I read it instead…FOUR TIMES NOW!!!😃

Its a fun and easy read, but I am sure your daughter will come away from the book knowing more about and loving more her Catholic faith.👍

If you decide on this book, let me know how she likes it, read it yourself as well…Its THAT good.

I second the Prove It series by Amy Wellborn.

On morality, books by Jason and Crystalina Evert are tops. Their website is www.pureloveclub.com.

Also, the T3 Teen Timeline bible study and the Theology of the Body for Teens video/book study are great. You should check with your parish regarding these resources. They are expensive to buy, but our diocese has a lending library that parishes can use. So, your parish may be able to help you get these types of resources on loan.

For a teen just coming into the Faith - I third PROVE IT.

Also, I’d suggest Mark Hart’s books, and maybe Matt Pinto (Do I Have To Go).
