Ok, so I simply refuse to make my family members pay for a $150 flower girl dress for my cousin and soon-to-be niece. I found this dress on Target’s website this morning.
I LOVE it. And it’s only $23

I agree wholeheartedly! I had both of my flowergirls (age 6 and 7) wear whatever they could find and afford. My cousin made her first communion this past April (we were married in July) so she wore her first communion dress (we also asked her the week before the wedding :D) and my mom’s friend’s daughter wore a communion dress they got for free and it was beautiful!

KevinsGirl,
You know what I hate even more than over priced over sexy bridesmaid dresses? That they are such a waste…nobody ever wears them again after the wedding. So, last year when I got married, I opted for outfits the girls (my daughter and his) could wear again. I was in Kohls and saw some two piece outfits that looked like dresses (solid color with a little metalic embroidery) which was perfect considering one of the girls was tall and slender (age 14)wore a size 1 or 2 and the other girl was short and heavy (age 10) wore a womens 14 or 16. It looked good on both body types but I did have to altar the straps for them because they were too long, so I just added a thicker braided metalic ribbon for the straps since the spaghetti straps weren’t too appropriate for young girls. They turned out beautiful and the girls wore the outfits again AND…they were on sale 50% off…so I think I paid $60 for both skirts and tops. I think I paid about $3 for the ribbon to replace the straps with…and had lots left over too, so I used them in the bouquets.

If you want to save ALOT of money…make your own bouquets… I spent a total of $125 at most and had tons of flowers…roses, spray roses, gladiola, (for the church) babys breath, ferns, lillies, etc… 1 brides bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 2 mothers and one holy family bouquet…5 boutoneers…4 altar arrangements…you can’t even get a brides bouquet that cheap…and they were jam packed with roses, even had some left over…

oh my God, I am trying so hard to find a wedding dress with sleeves and for GOD sakes these stores make you look like you are suppose to look ready for the bed instead of the Holy Matromony. It makes me sick. I wish the society would stop thinking below the line of the real meaning of being blessed in front of GOD!! David bridal stores suck for dresses

can some one write to me and tell me where I can find a wedding dress with long sleeves? thanks

I’m enjoying this thread a great deal…love all the beautiful dresses!

I am trying to figure out, though, why everyone thinks strapless=immodest. Do the straps really cover that much? I sometimes wonder if we, as a Catholic and Christian society, go overboard sometimes and worry about the wrong things.

Just thinking…

Modesty is a slightly relative term 🙂

But…

I’ve always had good luck for prom dresses at Peaches Boutique. You may find something modest.
