Where to find this kind of music . . .?

I realize not everyone is a fan of the “pop music” hymns sung at some churches these days (I am thinking of songs like “On Eagle’s Wings”, “You are Mine” and other David Haas songs, “In Every Age”, “I am the Bread of Life (Pan de Vida)” etc), but I think it is beautiful music for regular listening outside of church; certainly much better alternative than a lot of the popular music out there today!

I would love to add this music to my personal library, but can’t seem to find very much of it anywhere. Are there any artists that record these songs, and if so, where can I find their albums? Does Itunes carry religious music like this?

I think you answered your own question. Yes, David Haas has several recordings of worship songs and mass settings out, and other composers do too. So do groups like Taize and Iona Community. Much of this is available directly through iTunes Store and Amazon Music. You might also check out religious orders and independent musicians who may self-publish their music and sell it through sites like www.cdbaby.com

Google, though ubiquitous, is still your friend.
 
Have you tried amazon mp3 store? I did a quick search on a couple of those songs and there are tons of different versions. I would imagine itunes is similar, but I prefer Amazon. 😃

I guess the problem, more accurately, is finding good quality musicians that record this type of music. Most commercially-available religious music I find is almost unlistenable to me— either because the singing is so lackluster (or just plain BAD), or the musical arrangements leave a lot to be desired.

All I want is the simple piano+vocals arrangements I grew up singing in Sunday school and church; Jon Sarta comes closest, but is instrumental. The little else I’ve found so far is either pseudo-opera, or really corny-sounding folk/ country music :eek: Hoping to find better, as some of these songs are truly beautiful to me!

Ya, I understand about all the crazy arrangements, that is why Amazon is nice, I can sit there and listen to all the gazillion versions of the songs and hopefully find one that isn’t too bad.
