Where to give???

I have decided to give 10% of what my business makes (gross) to one or two worthy causes. This will be separate from what I tithe personally, which goes mostly to my parish and the Annual Appeal.

I would really like some (name removed by moderator)ut from you wise folks on CAF on which causes would be good. Pro-Life causes are very close to my heart, so I know one would have to be a Pro-Life cause, it’s just that there are so many out there I would like to get some (name removed by moderator)ut and opinions on the different ones and others from the posters here.

I appreciate your help on this important decision that I’m making!!! I’ve prayed about it and that’s how I decided to do this, now the question is where the money will go to, thanks.
 
A few off the top of my head would be:
Priests for life (Fr. Frank Pavone runs it)
National Right to Life
Human Life International
Local Birthright chapter (they aren’t in every city but you may have one close)
A christian crisis pregnany center

Others not dealing directly with abortion:
Food for the Poor (they have a very low overhead cost and majority goes to the people needing the help)
Catholic Relief Services
EWTN or Catholic Radio (if you have one near you)
Catholic Answers 😃 or Catholic Exchange
 
My favs:

Catholic Answers (no, I am not kissing up)😃

Missionary Oblates (OMI)
Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS)
Heifer International
Your local food pantry or Second Harvest
the Marie Wilkinson Foundation of Aurora, IL (Google this, and you will find the story of a great Catholic lady who founded her own organizationsimply by being willing to give to the poor of her area)

If you want to have a lot of fun with your giving, go to Donors Choose. Teachers and schools have created grant applications for things they need- including Catholic schools. Patrons leave them through them, and decide how much, if any, they want to give to a particular project. As a matter of fact, I am listing a couple apps for New School, so if anybody wants to give, let me know by PM, and I willbe happy to give you the info once the apps are finished.
 
After something pro-life, maybe something education related. Our youth need good formation. —KCT

but I think if I were in your situation I would find one or two local charities that didn’t get much publicity and really depend on generous donations.

Oh, I pray that someday they will be generous donations:o!!! For the moment they will be small donations as I am in the early stages of my business, it hasn’t quite taken off yet:blush:.

I think a local charity would be a good idea though, maybe I’ll do one local charity and one national…this may work, thanks everyone…keep’em coming!!!

**I would consider 10% of your gross income very generous! It doesn’t matter if that is a small or large monetary amount…it is still 10% of your profit. Especially if you are just starting out…many people would wait (and wait and wait) until their business was stable and large before even considering donating to charity:)

How about your parish. I am betting they would love to have a new reliable donor. Or a catholic school in your area.
 
Cristian Foundation for Children and Aging. cfcausa.org/

Ever hear of Christian Children’s Fund? I think this is similar, but Catholic (don’t really know much about the Christian Children’s Fund other than their commercials). You can sponsor children and older people, or give donations to the company. We’ve liked them so far.
