If you still have a relationship with the parish where your first child was baptized, reach out to them and ask. They may be more than happy to have you with them for the sacrament!

often it is the priest who asks for necessary permissions. a military assignment, like college living, can be considered temporary and you would still be under your “old” parish. don’t worry about it. in this town there are 3 parishes and parents are free to send their children to CCD in either parish whose schedule fits their needs (because building programs at the two other parishes limit what they can offer) but they have to get permission of their own pastor to celebrate sacraments at another parish, unless they register, support and attend the new parish.But
I must admit that until I started working at the parish I hadn’t been aware that we were supposed request that permission. It never occurred to me to ask our military chaplains for permission to go home to have our first two baptized, I just went and the priest who had celebrated our wedding baptized both.

As I said, we’ve moved a lot these past few years, all within the same area. I want to have my sons baptized where we had our first baptized. We still attend that church sometimes and usually go to Confession there. We know the priests a little better and are familiar with how the baptisms will be organized there. This Church is 30 min. away vs. the one that is 10 min. away where we often go to Sunday mass.
