Could someone here please point me to an authoritative on-line resource that shows specifically where incense is used in the different celebrations of the TLM? Thanks.
The only place I can think of is sanctamissa.org , which has the whole rubrics of the 1962 mass.Could someone here please point me to an authoritative on-line resource that shows specifically where incense is used in the different celebrations of the TLM? Thanks.
and the priest celebrant, and (depending on the type of Mass, in some very solemn cases), the prelate who presides.Incense also appears to be used to incense the Book of Gospels.
At at the beginning of Mass to incense the altar,
and again, the priest celebrant/prelate as before.just before the proclamation of the Gospel to incense the Book of Gospels
To incense the Sacrament at the elevations.and at the offertory where the gifts, any prelates and the priestly celebrant at incensed. Any other locations?
It depends on local custom. Is incense carried by the thurifer during the procession and recession? Thanks.
I’ve read the missale at that site. Not at all clear who/what gets incensed once you finally figure out when. Today’s GIRM is far more organized.sanctamissa.org/ would be a good site.
Also used in Benedictions and certain other special events. And sometimes during Funeral Masses. There are other 1962 liturgical books that cover these ceremonies.Any other locations? Is incense carried by the thurifer during the procession and recession? Thanks.
