Perhaps in the past you should have sought out and now should seek the advice and spiritual direction of your pastor. And his gifts were that some should be … pastors … to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind … (Ephesians 4:11-14)

I was thinking abut the flood and it made feel better because it’s like, even God had to start over.

Hi Kendy

Your story reminds me about my ex-bf and myself. He was in the same situation as you. However he did not struggle, but instead cast all his doubts to God directly…and this is where he gotten his answer directly from the almighty one. God speaks to us in many ways, which i personally agree to it as it always happened to me, each and everytime i ask for an answer. However i’m not focusing on getting an immediate answer , i just cast out my thoughts to him and pray for his plan for me…and the answer began to surface one by one. Sometime when we too focus about dilemma we will fail to see, that God’s answer is already there for you.

But i am so proud of you as you throw away some huge bitterness of yours and drop your story in the forum which send many of us praying for you. Our brightest future is based on our fogotten past, God are gracious to you, he will forgive you of your sins !!! We fall down, but we can stand up again right. Talking about sins, me too a sinner, a horrible one, always bring hurts pains and suffering to my ex-bf and when he left me…my whole world collapase…then i go back to God confess my stupid and silly acts , and for the Ist time in my life as a young believer God love me so much that he healed me within three days of my heartpain, (coz never before i read the bible, it was also that very moment i took my bible and read Book of James, that i begin to understand the meaning of life which God give to me) i still remembered i cried and cried when i read Book of James, i cried and cried when i heard my church Pastor preached about hurts…but no matter how bad i am and of the thing i done to others, God still love me…

Thus i encourage you to read your bible and cast all your worries to him. Wait patiently for the him…This is only a trial for you, trial makes us stronger in life!!!

SO DON"T WORRY BE HAPPY…HAPPY!!!😉

Praise GOD!!! He allowed you to go through your trials and now you see the problems of abandoning his Church, you loose the sacraments and fall into mortal sin, cutting yourself off from his graces with no way to reconcile yourself to him. Would that others who follow the path you walked have the wisdom to see their errors and come home. God Bless, Stay in the Sacraments and Pray to our Mother for guidance and intercession.👍

You are blaming God for something you did. You made a choice to do something of your own free will, which God gave you. It’s not God’s fault that you made those choices, it’s yours. He gave you a mind so that you could reason, a conscience to guide you and the grace of the Holy Spirit to know right from wrong. You have free will to do good or evil and God never wishes evil on anyone. You have to accept the fact that it was your mistake and stop blaming everyone else, especially God who loves you. Once you accept that, you can go to the next step, which is repentance, penance and amending your life. God Bless you on your journey.

I know that God has forgiven, but years of promiscuity, material excess, vain ambition, and abortion has seriously damaged my life. I feel like I have destroyed my own house, and don’t have the strength to rebuilt it. I don’t know where to start.

Kendy
There is NOTHING that we can do to make God love us any less. You dont have to rebuild your house. God will do it for you. As far as where has God been the last 11 years? I like the way Psalm 37 puts it:

“The Lord makes safe the path of the one he loves
Though you may stumle you will NEVER fall
for he holds you by the hand.”

God has been at your side the last 11years, holding your hand and waitng for you to notice his presence. Sounds like that is exactly what you are doing now.

Dear Kendy,

Thank you for opening up and sharing your experiences in this thread. I am really really really touched, not just by your courage and your success (yes, success, for you are, after all, back on track and a friend of Almighty God’s again) but also by the many inspiring words from everybody who posted in this thread from all around the world. PRAISE THE LORD ! Blessed be God in His angels and in HIS SAINTS! 👍

The things that came to my mind that might possibly shed new light for you are: (1) Job, and (2) the pagan woman who begged Jesus for a cure for her daughter in Mark 7 and Matthew 15.

Job, as we know, was sorely tested by God for quite a while. It’s true the Syrophoenician woman (aka the Canaanite woman) has her request answered by Jesus, but not before some pretty sharp rebukes and testing - it is her remarkable humility in admitting that she is indeed a dog seeking scraps from the table which moves Jesus to grant her request.

Mother Angelica has a very beautiful half-hour talk on this Gospel passage on the EWTN website: LISTEN here -or- DOWNLOAD here

It’s hard to second-guess God or know what He has in mind when things go wrong. Others have said that He may have been speaking to you way back when in some way and you didn’t listen. But let’s assume that He did not in fact give you the sign, the direction you prayed for before you left the Church. I am thinking He must have had some reason not to answer your prayer at that time - i.e., to draw some good, some virtue, or some spiritual accomplishment forth from your soul which would not have otherwise come to light.

Another thing to think about, which might bring you some comfort and help you direct your thoughts away from regret, is that “things can always be worse.” That may not be much comfort when you are suffering right now, but I’m just suggesting maybe if you try to imagine having become a person who actually finds what they think is happiness in a sinful life, and completely obliterating one’s conscience … now, that could be a real and eternal disaster, right?

God bless you, sister - you have my prayers.
