I’m pretty sure Our Lady of Walsingham appeared before the East/West schism, which would be older than Our Lady of Guadalupe.

So we are betting on apparitions now? I’m 100 percent sure the BVM would not approve.
A simple google can show what approved apparitions happened when.

You’re both wrong. Our Lady of the Pilar is the earliest known Marian apparition who appeared to St James the Greater in AD 40.

The oldest Marian apparition is Our Lady of the Pillar in 40 A.D., when Our Lady appeared to St. James the Great in what is now Zaragoza, Spain.

Our Lady of the Pillar falls in the category of “Traditionally Approved” Marian apparitions, which are those accepted by tradition that mostly occurred before the Church started organized processes of approving Marian apparitions. The other categories of apparitions are “Bishop Approved”, which are apparitions approved by the local bishop, and “Vatican Approved”, which is a small category of apparitions that were endorsed by the Vatican.

The oldest “Bishop Approved” Marian apparition is Our Lady of Good Success, in Quito, Ecuador in 1594.

The oldest “Vatican Approved” Marian apparition is Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531. Lourdes was 300 years later in 1858.

P.S. If your uncle actually pays you the thousand quid, be sure to make a big donation to your church.
