Science would probably lean to Sub-Saharan Africa, but the Bible places it somewhere in Mesopotamia.

Other Question: Do you guys think us Christians/Jews should start referring to each other, if needed, our ancestor (Shem, Ham, Japheth) and their sons and grandsons instead of our ‘race’?

It was/is most certainly Eastern Kentucky 🙂

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

… and, “kinfolks” would work !

oh, no, God loves Texas, that has to be where the garden was 😃

as for the second question… why? How does this improve anything?
IMNHO, it would lead to more divisiveness and hostility, something that surely God does not desire for our people and certainly not what our Lord Christ commanded in that we love one another as he has loved us. Mosses lead the twelve tribes out of enslavement, not as an individual twelve people but as God’s chosen… it was to be one holy priesthood… then that stupid calf showed up (Aaron… but Moses… IDK, the calf just popped out of the molten gold… I swear!)

You’re actually right… I don’t know why I even asked that question, it was a silly one. But I would think using that instead of ‘white’, ‘asian’, or ‘black’ would actually ‘undivide’ us in a way, but I was wrong. Sorry for asking. 😃

I would suggest reading a small book written by Fr. George Rutler, titled “Adam Danced” ! God Bless, Memaw

Someplace on planet earth.

The location is not important. It is the purpose of the Garden of Eden which is extremely important. In this very special Garden, the first announcement of Jesus Christ was made. (Information source. Genesis 3: 15; CCC 410)

Read “Adam Danced”, you might be surprised. God Bless, memaw

I thought it wasn’t Catholic teaching that one had to believe the Adam/Eve in Eden story actually happened/is a real place?

Anyone know?

.
It is defiantly Catholic teaching, other wise why would we need a Savior? God Bless, memaw

It’s very important. The Bible describes the location. However, certain place names have changed since antiquity. Also, local names have been Anglicized or modified. How they got Germany from Deutschland is one example. A good candidate for Eden is modern-day Anatolia, which we call Turkey. The Bible mentions two rivers in Genesis 2, Pishon and Gihon. The other two are the Tigris and Euphrates. As those who study foreign languages, and word pronunciations, know, what we read in English letters with what appears to be an obvious way to pronounce words, does not always conform to the way natives of that area pronounce those words. In Polish, the letter i, alone, is pronounced ee, and means and.

So, even though there is still debate among scholars. It was a real place.

Peace,
Ed

Dear friends,

I made a YouTube video revealing where I believe it was, but it was also a state ( of reality ), see youtube.com/watch?v=AJ4XMkKTjmk

Let me know what you think…

Blessings & peace
Dear friends,

I originally saw poss remnants of a 4th river with Israel, Jerusalem. I will re-do my video again soon, and fix it. An oversight, mistake. Should have checked as it was a few yrs ago I looked into this. Bad memory…

Blessings & peace

First time that I heard about Fr. George Rutler, an Anglican convert to the Catholic Church. Seems to be a very interesting personality. He was reassigned by Cardinal Dolan to a new diocese. His latest book “Coincidentally” has very good reviews.

I lived in South Africa for a long time, during the Apartheid years. Almost every government form had a long list of races where you had to put a tick on the one you identified with. There was one last box at the end with “other” - that’s what I always ticked and wrote “human”.

Not a single time did somebody get back to me!

I have no basis for this answer, but just a thought…

Wouldn’t it make sense for the Garden to have been in the Sahara, vs Sub-Sahara? I mean, we were cut off, kicked out, like an 18 year old who was told to now grow a pair and face the world because we didn’t listen to the house rules. Then the doors slammed shut in our faces. God had to know that a millennia later we’d all be like, “Yo dude, wanna find all the lost stuff from history?” He was sitting there going, “Oh no you don’t.” BAM change of scenery desert it is.

Then again, the Chinese desert also comes to mind. That place is just as bad. I realize I made light of it all, but again, just a thought.

There is so much beauty in our world. Like many posters have mentioned. It only makes me wonder, how much more beautiful was the Garden?

On a serious note, even in my college history class my professor mentioned, on a tangent, that chances are the Garden had been in Turkey. He mentioned much of what edwest2 already stated.

Yes, it’s mostly a fundamentalist Protestant thing. Most of us Catholics have gotten over the literalist reading of the Bible. The Catholic Church has learned from the Galileo debacle 400 years ago and is now very open to science. But you are free to chose.

Has Iraq been mentioned?
Hi friend,

Father Abraham of the Chaldeas came from Iraqi territory, but God led him through his offspring Israel to Israel, and Jerusalem. Maybe for a reason? At the end of time the world will be recreated. Why else except to perfect it once more – Edenise it. And the Book of Revelation, calls the end of all this journey of salvation history " New Heavenly Jerusalem ". Just thoughts, adios… 👍
