Matthew 18:21-35

Then in anger his master handed him over to the torturers
until he should pay back the whole debt.
So will my heavenly Father do to you,
unless each of you forgives your brother from your heart.”

So, where exactly Jesus refer to when He said “So will my heavenly Father do to you?”

Heaven? - I don’t think so
Hell? - Maybe!
Purgatory? - Probably.

Thanks!

In this case I think hell is the more probable interpretation.

But in Hell, there is no return.

This “until he should pay back the whole debt” gives hope, and we know that in Purgatory, the Holy Souls have the assurance that they will be in Heaven.

That is a plausible interpretation.

Its worth noting though the debt the bad man owed was huge, so huge it couldnt be paid off, only pardoned. When the King called the man back He reinstated that debt. In that context “until it is paid off” can be seen as an eternity.

I am curious.
How much is a talent?
I know that a denarius is 1/84 pound of silver – about one day wage at that time.

1 talent = 6000 denarii according to my Scott Hahn foot notes in RSV
