Where would yo like to live?

If you could choose, would you prefer to live in the Garden of Eden, or here and now? Please give a short explanation if you answer the poll.
 
Definitely, the Garden of Eden. It would be relaxing and peaceful, no pain, no suffering, a naked Eve.

On the other hand- it could get boring. Eventually, I might get tempted to eat some forbidden fruit, or something.

But definitely not the here-and-now.
 
Here and now.
Because when I think about it, in times of pain, suffering, difficulty, mistreatment, loneliness, sorrow, anger and confusion, I have glorified God most deeply and grown to know Him more closely. Because of these imperfections, I have been able to help others in His name.

And it is through these things that I have learnt what it is to feel peace, relaxation, contentment, euphoria and clarity of mind. Of course, one day I hope to be with God forever. But until then, I work to make our imperfect world a little more like Eden for others and for myself.
 
Paris. And since Paris is part of ‘Here and now’, that’s how I voted.

Oh I know that–I was referring to the serpent (Satan) who tempted Adam and Eve–sort of tongue in cheek.

I am not afraid of snakes, but then again I haven’t run into any pit vipers around here.🙂

Would I have more than just Adam and Eve for company if I chose the garden of Eden?
Not that I wouldn’t be interested to meet them of course… and have a LONG chat to them about the consequences of their disobedient behaviour…😃

I chose Eden as my aim is to live ever more in harmony with God… but really, I want to be wherever He wants me to be. 🙂
 
Here and now, that is God’s will and that is fine with me. Just remember that Adam and Eve did not have the Beatific Vision.
 
As nice it would be to walk around naked, eat free food, live forever, have no bills, no work, no predators…I’d rather live in the real world. I think Eden would be boring.

Good question, although I don’t think that Paradise and Eden are quite the same thing. From the vantage point of living in the here-and-now, I think heaven could be boring, maybe even more so than Eden.

The Church’s teachings about heaven are very promising (who wouldn’t want to stand face to face with God in perfect fulfillment for all eternity?) and I look forward to seeing my loved ones, but it is a vague idea–what does it mean to stand face to face with God, and do we do nothing else (like earthly pleasures)? Sounds wonderful, yes, but exciting? Maybe.

But I suppose that I would feel no need to do earthly things in heaven, so who knows, it might not be boring.
 
Thinking that I might not do any better than Adam and Eve did, I am content living where God placed me. Who wants to be remembered for all time for the sin they committed?

Think about it: A and E had MORE THAN ENOUGH and still it was not enough for them.

Does that say anything about us in our time of secular affluence? Are we content in our place as servants to one another for the Love of God, or are we, like A and E, trying to be a god ourselves and forget about God’s Commands?

But have you done it before?

I don’t think even believers can fully appreciate what it’s like to stand face-to-face with God for eternity, and for that existence to be the greatest happiness you could ever imagine. We have an idea of what it’s like; maybe you’ve felt it on a pilgrimage or at Mass, after witnessing a miracle, or after God has done something spectacular in your life. But even that experience is only an idea of what we would expect in heaven, because earthly happiness is not only temporary, but it also comes from earthly experiences.
