Hey everyone,
I’ve been thinking lately about where my life would go if the Catholic Church suddenly disappeared. And I’m not sure what I would do.
If the Catholic Church disappeared today? What Church would you go to? Would you join Islam? Or perhaps go to Protestanism? Become an Atheist?
Lately, I’ve been thinking about this question. Seeing as though I like to plan ahead. I was thinking that I’d join one of the Orthodox Churches, if it ever came to that. (Thank God that’s not the case), but any opinions?

If your banner is correct, it says you are in RCIA, (which is wonderful). You are wondering where you will go if the Church goes? I’m praying that in RCIA that the group you are with encourages the study of Catholocism, where you will find, to your relief, that the Church is not going away under any circumstances until time itself is all wrapped up, and our Lord returns to judge the living and the dead. This is a core tenet or our actual creed itself, so, this question seems self invalidating. It has no answer, because once you have accepted the creed of the Church, and her teachings in both scripture and tradition, you will know that you are speaking of an event that is impossible on it’s face. If it WERE a possible situation, then the Church would not be the Church promised by Christ, and all of us would just be spinning our wheels. What would the point be of looking to some other thing if the Church promised by Jesus Christ wasn’t itself what it is? If THE Church is invalid, how would it be that any other Church IS valid. I hope I’m phrasing this correctly. Honestly, no lack of charity is intended in any way at all. Just something to think about is all, I guess.
May I ask, since you’re still in a discerning process, whether or not you’ve had the opportunity to read the Gospel of John in a thoughtful and prayerful way? Perhaps a paragraph or two a day? If not, I can recommend it highly. It is one of the most amazing apologetics for the Catholic faith in existence, (as is the entire Bible, or course), but deeply pondering John, in particular, was, (and still is), such a beautiful part of my ongoing conversion to this Church that I fall deeper in love with by the minute. As the world hates her more and more, I become even more profoundly convinced that it is in fact the Church founded by our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.
