Just curious, what ever happened to the ark which holds the ten commandments? Is it in the custody of the Church in a sacred place somewhere?
Supposedly. I watched a little Discovery special on it, where the host went to said church and requested to see it. They’re keeping whatever they’ve got in a heavily guarded little building no one goes into. No one’s allowed to see it, so it can’t be confirmed or dismissed.I’ve read a few books about this subject. Some, again, some claim that the Ark is in the possession of the Coptic Church in Ethiopia.
Never call an Ethiopian a Copt. It’s the Ethiopian Church, not Coptic Church in Ethiopia.
But to be specific, it’s at the Church of St. Mary of Zion in Axum, Ethiopia.

The original ark was taken by God to be returned to us when God shows his mercy. He showed his mercy with the Incarnation of his own Son, our Lord. The new type of the Ark of the Covenant for Christians is Mary, Mother of God, for she carried in her womb the fulfillment of the law.Jeremiah came and found a cave-dwelling, and he brought there the tent and the ark and the altar of incense; then he sealed up the entrance. Some of those who followed him came up intending to mark the way, but could not find it. When Jeremiah learned of it, he rebuked them and declared: ‘The place shall remain unknown until God gathers his people together again and shows his mercy. Then the Lord will disclose these things, and the glory of the Lord and the cloud will appear, as they were shown in the case of Moses, and as Solomon asked that the place should be specially consecrated.’
