Xenofiction is commonly defined as fiction written from or about the perspective of non-human species.Think Watership down for example but not anthropomorphic animals like in the Redwall series.

Personally I’d LOVE to read Xenofiction about a slave-making ant species. An animal with a behaviour that is considered one of the worst aspects of humanity–and usually applied only to humanity. What “a song of fire and ice” was to deconstructing many fantasy genre staples is what I think such a story would be sorta like;showing how media like “Antz”,“A bug’s life” with their allegorical anthropomorphic takes on ant oppression are “unbuilt tropes” next to when the same star creatures actually doing that oppression irl.

*Interesting to me how wikipedia categorizes this as a kind of parasiticism,if you’d like to chew on something metaphorically resonating.

im a huge fan of xenofiction, my favorite movie is The Plague Dogs. the idea of ants at the center of xenofiction is an interesting idea, but i cant really see any conflict going on to warrant an entertaining movie unless they are flexible with the core concept of xenofiction.

for me personally, i like xenofiction when its about the non-human characters interacting with humanity. some of my favorite moments in watership down and plague dogs (mostly the books) are the animals trying to comprehend our actions

Xenofiction about lions (especially asiatic lions) would be pretty cool.
