Which bible to use

I have several. I like study bibles.
I’ve noticed in the KJV study bible. They omit controversial subjects, in the explanation section. Very annoying.
I like the Application Study Bible.
I also have a Catholic Study bible, but it doesn’t cover much.
That was the only one at the store which I was in at the time.

Which do you prefer?

Is that the same “Today’s English Verson” (Good News Bible) that I listed above as #8 in my list?
 
I use the KJV revised edition, for debate and challenging precepts as this is the one the majority of Christian Right Wing fundamentalists use, and which membership includes an abundance of elected politicians on both sides of the House.
I sold all my other bible collections at a local flea market.
 
Well for a study bible I use the NIV (New International Version) and for a reflection bible for getting the message I love the New Living Translation (NLT). That latter has critics since it reworks the Bible passages using more modern terminology and use of language to get the message across but not precisely trying to translate passage by passage. But its a wonderful edition if you care more about the message and getting it across over precise concerns.

There are strengths to both in my view.

Reading that I was looking at the NIV and NAS. They seem ok, but is it better to use something like the RSV? I think it mentioned it was a little harder to read, but you get a better translation. If anyone has any experience with any of these please inform me on what you would prefer. Thanks

I like that bible and it’s only 10 dollars. But maybe I will check the library too. I guess I don’t want the translation to appeal to just me, but a translation that isn’t disputed by many.

Actually that’s another good thing to point out.

Higher price doesn’t mean better bible. My secondary bible (NAB) only cost $15 and it’s better than many that I own.

The King James is a protestant Bible,If you are looking for a Cathloic Bible look at The Douay -Rheims or the New Amrticanor the Cathloic Revised Standard Versuion Are the Jerusalem Bible;;;
Some more Protestant New English Bible, New International Version or the New King James V ersion, Hope this help you and God Bless You

Agreed. Many of my Bibles, of various translations, were acquired very inexpensively from used bookstores and missionary societies.

I have, for example, the NAB, NJB, NRSV, NJKV, ESV, NIV, NASB, CEV, TEV, and KJV from the American Bible Society, some paperback and some hardcover.

I have copies of the RSV, old JB, Lattimore NT, and many others from used bookstores, mostly hardcover.
