Hello,

I am thinking of purchasing a bible. I have read many parts of teh bible before but at random.

which bible is accurate translation from its original source?

Lets say the Old testament , which bible is most accurate translation ? i don’t want translations that ommit or add any meanings , just acccurate translations of the words . and if it happens that literal translation will totally distiort the meaning then one that only adds what restores teh meaning and that is it.

I am not converting to Christianity , I would like to know the stories and how they are told from the point of view of teh authors of the bible.

I believe that the Douay-Rheims is the most accurate. Other will disagree with me to the core. They will argue that the RSV-CE is the most accurate. Again I will argue to the core with that. The RSV-CE does omit something in Luke 1:28 as most modern Bibles do “Blessed are thou among women”. I true, literal Bible that is Catholic is the Douay-Rheims. It is a word for word of the Latin Vulgate (translated in 400). There is nothing omitted or added or changed.

just accurate translations of the words.

Do you want the words to be translated literally, even if that results in meaningless English, or the words translated according to meaning, even if their is no relationship to the original text.

In both instances you can have an accurate translation.

Whether or not a meaning is distorted depends upon the perspective of the reader. Whether or not a meaning has been restored is equally the perspective of the reader.
