My local archbishop is not giving a dispensation for Mass on this Saturday, December 8, for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. My family and I will be out of town this weekend in a diocese that has given one and attendance on the Immaculate Conception isn’t required there since it is on a Saturday. It will be difficult for us to attend Mass twice this weekend as we are traveling on Friday, planning on attending vigil Mass Saturday night, and traveling back home on Sunday, with five kids. Are we obligated to attend Mass for the Immaculate Conception? This particular parish doesn’t offer any other Mass on Saturday except at 5 pm. There are no Masses on Friday. If we go Saturday night at 5 pm could that count for attendance for the Immaculate Conception AND our Sunday obligation?

If you are traveling, and if your travel schedule prohibits you from going to a second Mass on either Friday afternoon or Sunday, you need only go to the Mass that you are able to attend.
