Hello!

My Boyfriend is coming into the Church this Easter Vigil! I was hoping to get him some sort of religious book as sort of a welcoming present. The only problem is I’m not sure which book to get him! He is almost 19 and we have already read the Surprised by Truth series. He loves reading coversion stories! Does anyone have any recommendations?? He also loves reading books on prayer, everyday living, saints and biographies. I was going to get him the 40 Dreams of Saint John Bosco and The confessions of Saint Augustine but my Aunt has already gotten them for him.

So again, if anyone has ANY recommendations of a good, Catholic book to read, I would greatly appreciate if commented!!

God Bless!!!

I would recommend Rome sweet home by Scott Hahn. Or any books by Scott Hahn for that fact. They are all well written and very informative. I love them 🙂

Thank you both so much for replying!

Peter- Rome Sweet Home was actually one of the first books we have read together! It was indeed wonderful!

Fulton Sheen’s "Life Of Christ. I’m reading it for the 4th time.

👍

Another book I would recommend is *Sermons of the Cure of Ars *as well as Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempis and *33 Doctors of the Church *by Christopher Rengers.

@OP: If your boyfriend likes the lives of the saints he will like the *33 Doctors of the Church *book since it has a lot of information about the lives of these 33 saints…

Rome Sweet Home by Scott Hahn if he loves conversion stories!

there’s a short little e-book by Gus Lloyd called ‘A Minute In The Church’…

In this easy to read 48 page booklet, you’ll find one-minute explanations about what Catholics believe and why.

Using faith, reason and a healthy dose of Scripture, this book helps to answer common objections to Catholic teaching from non-Catholics and Catholics alike.

It really is a terrific read… and a reference book afterwards…

Imitation of Christ- Thomas Kempis

True Devotion to Mary- St Louis de Montfort

Anything by Cardinal Ratzinger aka our holy father, Pope Benedict XVI, especially Jesus of Nazareth parts I & II

Interior Castle- St Theresa of Avila

Wow, you got really good recommendations! I would add Be a Man by Fr. Larry Richards, Little Flowers of St. Francis, A Man of the Beatitudes and The Secret of the Rosary by St. Louis de Montfort. All Fulton Sheen’s books are good but my favorites are Life with Christ, The Priest is Not His Own, The Worlds First Love and Calvary and The Mass. God bless!

What about getting him the single volume of Christian Prayer (the single volume of the Liturgy of the hours) which includes all the prayers needed to recite all Morning, Evening and Night prayers with the rest of the Church? This would be a book he can take into his future with him, and not only be a 1 or 2 time read.

Just a suggestion, as something that he will have and be able to use for YEARS to come!

Wow! Thank you all so much for your help!!! You have no idea how much I appreciate this!

This Is The Faith by Canon Ripley. It’s an excellent resource on the faith.
