Which book of the Old Testament is your favourite?

Is there one that you enjoy more than others or have read more than the others?

Maybe there is something in this particular book that connects with you?

I always used to like Daniel (the impending doom) but I do like Zechariah and Malachi as I seem drawn to them but don’t know exactly why yet.

Oh, so many to choose from! I can read the Psalms all day and night. These are just the most beautiful, poetic and earnest prayers ever penned.
I also love the Genesis-Exodus narrative. It is, in my opinion, the most epic story of all time. Not surprising, considering it is the story of all time. 😃
 
I love the history to be found in Chronicals & Kings, but I most familiar with the Psalms, especially the Psalter version, which, while not the best translation, does allow the poetry to manifest itself wonderfully.
 
Exodus, and the books that tell the story of King David. David is a very compelling character for me.
 
Job, Isaiah, Habakkuk, Jeremiah, Zephaniah…but my most favorite is Hosea.
 
Isaiah, hands down. For me no other book of the OT compares in language, thought, and pure revelation.
 
Well, I really like the Psalms. After that the Proverbs or Ecclesiastes.
 
Jonah and Daniel. I love Jonah because I have studied it greatly, and I love Daniel because it is the first book of the Bible that I studied (not just read). I have put together commentaries on those books for the Aquinas Study Bible.
 
Ezra and Nehemiah- there are so many great themes that really speak to me, like rededication, moral courage, working together with what God has given us…I read the Bible straight thru & then start over again & I always look forward to those 2 books.

1 and 2 Samuel. It’s much like the story of the 3 wise men (3 kings) and the others who were the observers. Very profound information! :cool:
 
that’s all I have been reading for a couple years is the OT. But, I can’t say exactly which book is a favorite.

Leviticus is appealing, because it is so Catholic – people go to confess their sins to the priest. They have to take their best bull or ram or whatever and sacrifice it. As it is being sacrificed, they have to put their hands its head. That takes sinning and repentence to another level, being real personal about it.

Leviticus 16 describes the Day of Atonement, which was fulfilled in Jesus our Savior. Modern Jews are urged to repent on that day, Yom Kippur, if they haven’t done so in the previous year. Failure to take advantage of repentence on that day “when God is so near” is considered a sin in itself.

The Holiness Code – something awesome to consider.
 
Tough one. Too many that I truly love. Genesis and Exodus for sure. However, Ecclesiastes has been one I truly love to just read every now and then, along with Daniel and, ah heck, again, too many. 🙂
 
Proverbs. The book is full of the most sage advice which is just as applicable now as it was when it was written.
 
I’ll take 1 Sam espcially Chap. 1. That is the cutest story about the toddler Samual hearing God’s voice for the first time. Samual is my favorite book.
