Hi CAF!

I need an opinion of which book I should read for school. I have researched all the of them, and I’d like to get some other opinions: Set All Afire (St. Francis Xavier) by Louis de Wohl, Lay Siege to Heaven (St. Catherine of Siena), David Copperfield, or* The Prince and the Pauper*.

Thank you for your time! 😉

The book you want to read is Joan of Arc: by Herself and Her Witnesses
by Regine Pernoud
amazon.com/Joan-Arc-Herself-Her-Witnesses/dp/0812812603/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391100063&sr=1-2&keywords=joan+of+arc+pernoud

It’s full of "are you kidding me? " situations.
No fiction writer would dare to write a story like this.

Helpful hints for classroom discussion:
  1. keep a list of Joan’s predictions :bigyikes:
  2. keep a list of Joan’s battles with places and dates 👍 😃
  3. collect her statements at the trial about the “Voices” 😃 How often did they appear to her?
( Don’t buy Joan of Arc: Her Story, also by Regine Pernoud. It’s a disappointment. 😦 )

Hopefully mine own novel will be in print soon. You’ll love it. Theresa is 18 and 19 throughout the story ( except she’s 10 in chap 1 and 16 in chap 2 ).

Louis de Wohl also has a good book on Saint Joan of Arc (“Saint Joan”). You might want to try it out. I enjoyed it as a teenager. 👍

I checked out de Wohl’s book on Amazon. It’s a watered down bio for kids. The “LOOK INSIDE” sample has amateurish and very boring writing. Joan leaves home and her father and mother talk to each other about her. Who cares what her father and mother think? 🤷

If you want a Joan bio written for the young, get Mark Twain’s “Joan of Arc”,
but Pernoud gives a very complete story.

I love Louis de Wohl’s books! My favorite is “The Spear”, but if you’ve narrowed your choices to the four in the original post, I’d have to go with “Lay Siege to Heaven”!
