Maurice and Therese: The Story of a Love (Inspiring Letters between Therese of Lisieux and a Struggling Young Priest) by Patrick Ahern. BEAUTIFUL and so pure, and made me cry my eyes out! :crying:
 
It was a letter from St. Philip Howard to his wife. Before he was reconciled to the Church, he left his wife in the country while he cavorted at court. But after his reversion, he returned to his wife and they became a devoted couple. He was arrested and imprisoned in the Tower of London where he died. Before he died he wrote to his wife and told her that if he could only be with her, he would be as good as husband now as he had been a bad one before.

The Life of St. Gabriel, Passionist, did not make me weep, but I was deeply moved and inspired by the chapter listing his “simple?” resolutions. Basically, they are at first glance so simple that it could hardly be thought that it might make a person a saint, but in actuality - VERY difficult to live every single day. It’s the daily struggle not to relax one’s resolve that is herioc, IMO.

I am reading "The Impact of God - Soundings from St John of the Cross" by Iain Matthew. It was recommended by a friend as an introduction to the message of St John of the Cross. I have already been so touched by this Saint, just from reading about him in this book. His testimony of the Love of God is incredibly beautiful and convincing.
