I’m just kind of curious which of these two categories people find themselves falling into most often. I think I fall into B more often, but I’m not positive.

CATEGORY A
When things are going good, you pray often thanking God for all the good that He has done for you. But when things turn bad, you tend to lose hope and pray a lot less than you should.

CATEGORY B
When things are going bad, you pray often asking God for courage, strength, and healing. But when things turn good, you tend to take success for granted and forget about thanking God.

There should be a category C for me - pray plenty both in times of trial and times of success :))

Show off 👍

I am a little of both, not so much on the success part on B, but when things are bad I sometimes pray more, and then when things are good, i just stop. Its not that I take him for granted. I think its a phase. Fail hard, pray less, pray hard, and then the goodness gets in my head. Its not too bad 🙂

Not showing off. Just that I’ve kinda sorta got a bit of a routine going - daily Morning, Evening and Night prayer from LOTH, daily Rosary and Divine Mercy, Mass and/or Adoration a few times during the week and on Sundays. It pretty much stays the same no matter what else is going on.

Can’t answer this one, without a third option –

the “catholic” one – which is neither “either / or” – but instead it is “both / and”

Yup, a Mystery. It’s gotta be that I can correctly answer “A” as well as “B” – at the same time.

I like to think that I pray often… and hope that I do, even if I’m not aware of praying, that is…
Code:
Holy Spirit, make me want only what you want for me.
Nothing more, nothing less, nothing else. Amen.

I need to become one of those people like you LilyM, but being an 18 year guy, its a little hard to slow my mind down and stop everything. Thats cool though. Good routines are cool, just starting them, though, is kinda hard. I try to go to mass more than once or twice a week, but because of school, I can’t go to the morning masses, and so i can only get to Holy days of obligation masses at night. School messes it up for me. I do go to adoration at least twice a month and I go to XLT a couple times (praise and worship music and adoration). I plan to pray more this summer and when I go to Franciscan.

I tend to pray all the time and for just about every reason. I pray when things go bad and hope they get resolved. I pray to be thankful when things go right, and I pray that the roof doesn’t cave in just when everything seems to be going okay.

In other words, I’m just a general pest and whiner all the time, may God have mercy on my soul…

Definately B! Sometimes I feel like a kid who is in their backyard playing, having so much fun and not giving a second thought to their parents. But the minute I fall and “skin my knee” …where’s Mom or Dad!! 😃

I’m an A. I don’t think it’s so much that I lose hope, but that I’m too busy trying to handle it my way myself.

I’m a “C” as well. It’s not that I “pray without ceasing” by any means. It’s just that I pray the same amount in good times & bad. When it’s good, I’m thankful… when it’s bad, I’m asking for the good times back.

I think there should be a “D”…

I pray in extremes. When something really great happens, I remember and when something really bad happens, I remember. When things are going smoothly and I can’t complain, then I forget. Although, I do try to make prayer daily, I know I am more fervent when I’m on those extremes. 😦

I pray almost constantly. BUT, I must admit, when times are good, I slack off on my Mass attendance, whereas when times are trying, I attend faithfully. It’s scandalous. I’m ashamed of this tendency. 😦

ME Too… I’m a C…
I don’t pray all the time, but I have a good balance between A and B.

I used to definately be a category B. However, the more I grow in my faith, the more and more reasons I find to be giving thanks to God and praying to Him. I am glad to say I am moving away from category B:D .
