416. In what does the natural moral law consist?
1954-1960
1978-1979
The natural law which is inscribed by the Creator on the heart of every person consists in a participation in the wisdom and the goodness of God. It expresses that original moral sense which enables one to discern by reason the good and the bad. It is universal and immutable and determines the basis of the duties and fundamental rights of the person as well as those of the human community and civil law.
[SIGN] The natural law is not revealed to man through the Church, but known to all[/SIGN].
I was talking on faith and morals. But the Natural law is the light placed in us, through it we know what we must do and what we must avoid. Which is what you are saying and I agree with.

But when it comes to teaching faith and morals and what to follow God left that up to the Church to teach us. It is the Natural light God placed in us to see the truth. But we also have to be taught the truth in order to see it. And that is the job of the Church.

If God did not want us to be taught the truth on faith and morals he would not have had to leave us the Church. But the reason he left us the Church was because the Church is led by the Holy Spirit to lead us to that truth. Without the truth of the HS to guide us we can not do it alone. And the HS is whom leads the Church to teach us faith and morals.

If we did not have the Church we also would feel that we could do what we wanted and would not accept the authority that God gave the Apostles. Just because we have the seal of the HS to follow the truth in Baptism, Does now mean we have the gift of the HS to teach the truth. That is why Jesus left us leaders just for that special job.

And in the RCC we trust in Gods Promise that the Popes and Bishops are given that divine knowledge to lead us to the truth. We cannot rely on ourself to overpower divine teachings of the Church. We do not have the gift of the HS to trump the word of God taught by the Church.

So in all do respect I can not see how the natural law can work alone without the moral law. The moral law presupposes the rational order established amoung creatures for their good and to serve their final end, by the power wisdom and goodness of the creator.

Your Thoughts?
among Lutherans, ELCA is the supporter of gay marriage. Others such as LCMS, WELS, AFLC, etc are very much opposed to it.

Then here is the question that I have?

What Church could call themself Christians. Christian mean’s to be Christ like Correct?

Then how could a Church call itself Christian and go against the teaching’s of Jesus Christ? Because how could it be Christ like to go against his teachings?

Not every religious body embraces your idea of what encompasses "the teaching of Jesus Christ.

No denomination who embraces their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters are going against the gospel as they understand it…in fact many of these denominations very deliberatly CHOSE to embrace their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters BECAUSE of the gospel and teachings of Jesus Christ after much prayer and discussion and the firm belief they were guided by the Holy Spirit to do so as a witness to the love and grace of God…it is not something ALL have wrestled with and came to the same conclusion…it is what they understand God wants of them.

People often make the comment that no one “chooses” to be homosexual. We have been hearing this for years. Without using such terms as “studies indicate”, “everyone knows”,
“specific genetic markers have been found” or some other vague comment, can someone tell me why “being gay” is not chosen ? If people are born this way, what specifically determines sexual preference ? It was always considered abnormal for all of recorded history. What changed in the last 30 years?

How do you figure that.

Gen 1:27-28 God created man in his own image in the image of God he created him male and female. He created them and God bless them and God said to them Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. THat is the scripture on the institution of marriage by God.

Now how can you possibly say that God created women for women and men for men. The gospel does not say that. How could you possibly ever say that this was the teaching of the Holy Spirit?

And how could you say that the HS would ever guide any Christian to not come to the same conclusions and separate brothers and sisters in Christ. Thats absurd!

A better understanding of human sexuality…a better understanding of whay may or may not “cause” homosexuality. If…IF…homosexuality is a natural, normal variance of human sexuality not previously understood…as the word “homosexual” to distinct them from “heterosexual” are new words to help catagorize human sexuality…and those religious bodies who do not accept “primitive” or “archaic” catagories of sexualtiy…or race…or gender roles…seek to interpret ALL the variances of human sexuality within their understanding of the Gospel of Jesus of Nazareth and the nature and work of God, have decided the perpoderance of evidence that homosexuality IS one normal and natural variance of human sexualtiy and equal to heterosexualtiy and there may be yet undiscovered evidence that it is an unchangeable condition (sexual orientation) as is heterosexualtiy, these religious bodies did not do so lightly…but with great care, caution, prayer, discusssion and have experienced the ministry of gay men and lesbian women in their midst it has become an equaltiy issue understood through their understanding of the Gospel.

I agree. Being a practicing Homesexual is a choice. You choose to participate in the life style. Just like a person who likes to steal is not a chief if they choose not to steal. Just because the urge to sin is there, does not make the person a sinner. It is the act in which one participates that condemns them. With the Grace of God any sinful urge can be overcome. Its in the bible.

The gospel doesn’t say a lot of things. It took 18 centuries for those who believed the gospel to finally understand that it is wrong to own another human being. It took centuries for those of us who accept the worth of persons and the dignity of women…that we are just now scrathing the surface of understanding human sexuality is not a great surprise.

You’re right…I believe if one listens to the Holy Spirit there is only one conclusion to draw…homosexuality is a normal and natural variance of human sexualtiy only recently understood in a modern psychological and scientific age…it should not be understood abased on a limited world view of tribal culture 4000 years there is only one conclusion one could come to based on the leading of the Holy Spirit…and to conlcude other than gay men and lesbian women are people of worth and dignity and that they should be included as full members in the Body of Christ IS absurd.🙂

Just like being a practicing “heterosexual” is a choice…those who accept gay men and lesbian women into their fellowships understand it is against the beliefs of conservative Christians…and the collective history of said religious belief…but religion has been wrong before…and it is wrong now…being gay and living with a partner whom they have covenanted before God and in the presence of their religious brothers and sisters is not a sin…no matter what any religious body believes and claims to speak for God…the door to equality is open…and it will not be shut again by anyone’s religious beliefs…thank God Almighty.

I agree with you. But all that is revealed thru the RCC is the Truth because it is led by the Power of the HS. Jesus promised us that. And the Church has rejected gay marriage since the beg. and continues to do so. Because it is still led by the HS the Spirit of Truth.

Jesus promised to lead us thru the Church and has kept that promise. 2000 plus years later the same Church is here led by the Same HS. The keys that were given to Peter to hold are still in the hands of the RCC. The teaching’s will always be the same.

But the CHurch has never been wrong and never will be. If the CHurch is wrong then Jesus lied to us and the HS has failed us and the devil has won.

From what I can see, the RCC has never failed us in the teachings of the word of God. It it did it would be gone and hades would have prevailed. But the Church is still here, and the teaching’s are still preserved just like Jesus Promised.

You see the RCC is not a Religion. It is the Living Christ. Just like Jesus promised. Being led by the HS. Jesus said you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church and he did, and its here. People are free to reject his teaching, but it is for all who seek. Out in the open.

If every one believed what you stated above and accepted the claims of the RCC…there would be no problem…but they don’t…those are wonderful claims the RCC makes…I do not accept it’s claims nor it’s authority on matters of human dignity, equality, sexuality, science, metaphysics, miracles…and the list could go on…BUT that doesn’t prevent me from believing God is at work in those who seek to do His will through the RCC…God meets us where we are at and in Him we have fellowhip…I don’t have to believe your claims…or you mine…to find peace in Him and believe we both are “works in process” through His grace. I believe we are still led by the Holy Spirit of Truth…being human and faulty and mortal…the Light Within isn’t always heard as clearly as we’d like to believe…but He is patient and grace is plentiful and we are loved not in spite of ourselves…not in spite of who we are…but we are loved and shown grace and mercy because of who we are…beloved of God.

Jesus didn’t lie…you just heard wrong.🙂 We all have difficulty livinig in the Light…but He is patient and merciful…we have much to be thankful for in that respect.

Did I. Jesus gave the Church being and life by his death on the cross. He manifested his Church by sending the HS upon her with great power on Pentecost. Peter was there. Peter was given the keys and the Pope still holds those keys passed down from Peter.

History can prove it. It can show you ever Pope that has had the keys passed. Same Church, Same keys, Same teachings, same HS. WHat did I hear wrong?

If history could prove it to my satisfaction…and the satisfaction of a great many more good Christian people than me…you may have a point…but YOUR understanding of history prooves it to you…to me it is quite clear history does not prove any such thing.

But see you do not have the Power of the HS to speak for Jesus but through the divine power of the HS the Pope can. He has the power from the laying of hands HOLY ORDERS passed on. The Pope agrees with what I heard, and its the teaching of the Church:D

Until you can show me Apostolic succession you are out:eek: The Popes IN:D

Has and can. But it can only reveal the truth. It cannot take your free will away. It amazes me how People can take other history and accept it, but not history revealed and sealed by the Power of the HS. Go figure.

Show me another CHurch that can trace a Pope back to Peter!😃

I have no need to disprove your beliefs if they give you peace. If they make your life better…if they make your life an event of joy…if those beliefs cause you to see the face of Jesus in others and makes your heart tender and compassionate…if those beliefs humble you before God and moves you to Quiet Wonder and Awe before His Presence, then hold on to those beliefs with all your heart. If the pope find the same things in those beliefs, wonderful…I rejoice with you.

Publisher has still not answered the question. Are there specific known medical facts that determine sexuality ? I don’t think it needs to be agued that heterosexuality is normal. It is the only (natural) way to populate the earth.

What makes those of us wrong, who disagree with you “enlightened” ? PLEASE give me ONE universal FACT that can not be disputed. I will accept ANY conclusive medical study that proves it is not a choice.

The Catholic Church teaches that homosexual behavior is intrinsically evil. That is not the opinion of one man. It is the collective wisdom of millions over the centuries. The Church does not condem someone who feels the urge for the same sex; only acting on that urge.

God created children with “Down Syndrome” yet the medical establishment has seen fit to abort 90 % of those pregnancies. The American Conf. of OBGYN’s has set a goal of 100 % thereby eliminating an entire “class” of people. Are they some of those “enlightened” people ?
