Peace. I didnt really know where to post this, so I figured I would post here. Not really moral theology, but it was the closest thing I could think of to post.

Anyway, I’m becoming increasingly more interested in Canon Law. I don’t have much of a reason for this sudden interest (unless God wants me to be a Canon lawyer…that would be nuts)

Anyway, I’m looking for the best Code of Canon Law with a commentary to pick up. This one seems to be the one that pops up the most, but what do you all recommend.

Thanks in advance for your help. Peace and God bless.

This one is usually considered to be the most comprehensive of the availble CIC translations. It is what my professors wanted in my Canon law courses and what can be found in most parishes in the United States. It has very accurate translation of the canons and includes very good commentary.

The one you pointed out looks like it is a good source but I have never looked at it so I have no real idea. Good luck with your choice.

(As a disclaimer, the book is written, by an overwelming majority, by professors of the Canon Law School at The Catholic University of America, where I studied and where my professor the other time earned her JCL. So we may be just a tiny bit biased. With that said, I still think it is a good commentary and translation.)

Thank you for your help. That was the other one that kept popping up as well, and one of the few I have actually picked up and read. Just out of curiousity, are you a Canon lawyer, or was it just for Canon Law classes?
