Which Colour do you Visualise Mary in?

Once when I was praying a scriptural rosary with a Catholic Charismatic group, I sensed Mary’s presence, only it was a pink one.

I would say gold - but not a trashy gold, a soft, radiant gold!
😊:takeoff:

(Yes I know my smilies have nothing to do with my post, but I really wanted to use them!)

Blue and red.

This is a beautiful question for someone to think of, thank you 🙂 And I’m interested in seeing the responses 🙂

Since Mary was a typical Jewish woman of her time, I picture her in a sort of homespun color. At the time she was on earth, blue, I believe, was usually reserved for royalty. So it would be appropriate for her to be in blue after her assumption, but not before.

I usually picture Mary as the loving Jewish mother raising our Lord and standing at the foot of the Cross, thus she would be wearing the color of homespun fabric of that time, in my mind sort of a tannish brown color.

White, because the Fatima and Medjugorje images and statues are always white.

Pax Christi!

Sometimes a là Fatima (white with gold) and sometimes a là Lourdes (white with blue). Usually smiling, but sometimes dissappointed. 😦

God bless.

Blue is the Jewish color for divinity.

Blue - the simple peaceful headcovering always comes to my mind. maybe all those years of Christmas pageants…

Although I do like images of Mary in blue, blue/white, or blue/red, the Carmelite in me pictures Mary arrayed in brown. These images come to mind.

I often get in tongue in cheek debates with folks about this. Seems everyone (mostly priests) believe Mary only owns one dress. And it’s light blue.

I voted “other” by the way. 😉

White. All because of a dream I had while struggling with Mary’s position in the Church (typical convert problem ;)). In the dream she was dressed all in white, including a white pillbox hat like Jackie Kennedy wore in the early '60s. 😃

And the dream put my mind at rest - I never had another problem with Mary.

Hi CB! 👋
Actually, purple is the royal color. Remember Lydia in the OT? She was a “purpler”. She knew how to gather the plants to make the purple dye. 😉
God bless you!

The art from the 1200-1400 time period at our local museum always shows Mary cloaked in royal blue. Apparently at that time Mary was honored with what was then a very expensive pigment made from ground lapis gemstones. So, I always picture her in blue…with a gold star on or over her left shoulder as she was depicted in this type of art and iconography.

I saw a picture of her once wearing soft white and yellow or gold. She looked very pretty in that combo. Otherwise, I think of her in medium blue and white, or aqua blue.

I’m with the people who see her in home spun colors. Very boring colors, but since most Palestinians have a lot of golden skin tones, it’s not totally unflattering. I imagine her to look like the Virgin of Guadalupe.🙂

She could wear an old chenille bathrobe and fuzzy slippers, and she’d still be Our Mom!
