I often pray the rosary while driving in my car looking up at the sky. I chose blue because I always envision Mary’s cloak reflecting onto the sky. I like to think that is why the sky is blue.
I always visualized the blessed virgin in white, along with all the others dressed in the Resurrection of Christ. She holds a palm branch, and is the foremost creature in love and charity. Since she is clothed with the sun, she shines brighter than all white things - thus rendering pearls and other metaphors insufficient.
White with a blue sash. With one foot on a serpent’s head. That’s how I see her in my mind when I pray. I imagine her to have a loving gaze towards me yet with her foot on the snake I know she means business and is a powerful prayer partner to have.
In the Icon Our Lady of Vladimir, I’d say She is wearing black, in another famous icon red. I placed a vote for one color but I believe She wears different colors.
I usually do not think of Her wearing brown but Our Lady of Mount Carmel is definitely wearing brown (usually), those are some of my favorite images of Her.
