Can anyone recommend any helpful devotions for someone struggling hard to overcome anger and bitterness toward people in general?

Welcome to CAF, ronnette. I hope you will like it here very much!

1- Ah! my favorite Saint is Saint Rita:
childmary.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=103
(there is prayer at the end of the page)

2- I am working on my temper as well - it’s been a year. The root of my temper is pride.
So, here is the Station of the Cross devotion:
childmary.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=100

3- and then, I am about to add St. Therese Little Flower to my devotions - being a childlike one.

There are prayers there and you can subscribe to the site, each day you receive a quote from the Saint. I try to mediate on her quote during the day. Honestly, I tend to forget all the time. 😊

A few things come to mind (and these usually do for many things!). One is the Rosary.😉 Another is prayer for St. Therese’s intercession - she was a master of dealing with small irritations. 😃 Another thing that might be helpful is an examination of conscience every night (remembering how you’ve acted with other’s, too) and then, at least monthly confession. 👍

I’ve really been working on this myself  and these have helped me.

Thanks Rawb again.
uh, that picture of the Saint is kinda scary a bit.
I can’t help it, I love devotions, and spreading devotions can only help the world, right? IMO, the world needs a lot of help, so we need to spread a lot of devotions.

I agree about the saint; totally creepy. If I met him in real life I’d probably run screaming the other way.

Yes. Shouldn’t you have a database for all this devotion somewhere?
It is quite handy when someone asks.

😃 well, take a closer look, he seems to be very gentle.

I read something once that really helped me. I wish I knew if it was a quote from a Saint, but I don’t. Anyway, paraphrasing, it said,

“If someone’s actions vex you, pray for them. And, you, yourself, practice the opposite virtue.” :getholy:
