Semper Fi - I know you asked if it was available to order from a source in the US, but I just thought I’d let you know that the publisher in the UK does deal in $$ and will ship it.

Have you considered getting the Haydock Douay-Rheims Bible?
I have this version and I love it…the only downside is that it is two seperate books (Old and New Testaments) and they are Very Big!!

But gotta love the commentary! 😉

Thanks for the link, but I’ve already checked with the publisher and I’ve decided to order thru a reseller if possible. I like to throw my money back into the American economy when I can, even if that means buying from a reseller.

Ok, I got the two Bible’s in one shipment from Baronius Press. I ordered them Oct. 17 and received them Oct. 24 - not bad! Faster than Amazon here in the U.S. 😉

They’re absolutely beautiful too. I went ahead and gave my mom her’s, I figured she could get one of her birthday presents early. 🙂 She loves it and was so grateful, she actually had tears. 😦

I’m just greatful that I finally HAVE a bible that I truly appreciate, despite its errors which I have found (there was one typo in which references Martha, written as ‘Mar.’ o_O).

I too have a Baronius, because it is the only one available that I could find in Canada. I bought mine in Montreal in La Maison de La Bible (which is a wonderful bible store!) for $72CAD.

I went back to BC and finally the other Baronius in my town is $79CAD O_O.

The Vancouver Bible Society has a paperback around that price, but for durability I had to go with the Baronius, because it is so rare up here in Canada.

I bought a Loreto edition, to supplement my large Haydock Catholic Treasures version. The latter is so large and heavy that I needed a different one for taking it with me. The Lorteo is just great. It is a copy of the Douay Bible House version from 1941. This made me feel safer than the Baronious, which supposedly had errors. etc. I bought a hardocver Leather Loreto from olrl.org for $29, which cannot be beat as a price for a leather Douay-Rheims. The production of the Loreto hardcover is beautiful, with thick white paper, a gold and red ribbon for marking passages, a well-made binding, and the book is a convenient size to carry around, but still lies flat when open. I could not be happier with this Loreto edition.

I’m thinking about getting the Loreto, since the second printing of the Baronious version still has errors in it.

The Loreto has errors in it too.
