Which Eucharistic Prayer is your favorite?

Aside from the fact that they are all equal in that they all fulfill the sacrifice, which one of them is your favorite?
Mine is by far Eucharistic Prayer 1 “Roman Canon”, followed by Eucharistic Prayer 3 and then Reconciliation Prayer 1, Eucharistic Prayer 4, and so on. Eucharistic Prayer 2 is dead last.

I have yet to hear that one (if I do not count Tridentine Mass) 😦 but from what I’ve read, it seems to be my favorite too 😃
 
There are several more Eucharistic Prayers like the ones Mass with children, penance suitable for Lent etc.

I assume you hear the old EP 2. The one that was only ever meant for weekday masses.
According to the GIRM , 1 and 3 are supposed to be used on Sundays and Holy Days.
 
Hard for me to choose between the Anaphora of St. John Chrystostom or the Anaphora of St. James.
 
Actually, 3 or 2. Most of time I ask Priest which one he wants, but if he does not answer and I’m altar serving I usually choose 3rd myself (unless homily is long or something prolonged Mass, because then Priest likes to turn over to 2 even if I choose 3rd so why make it harder for him). I’ve also experienced couple of those at the end of Missal- they aren’t numbered but our Priest uses them if they fit occasionally. Just to ask, when is 4th one used?

Oh, a man of culture appears. I’ve only experienced Anaphoras of St. John Chrysostom and St. Basil, I’m looking forward to St. James if you like it that much! 🙂

I am Byzantine Catholic. At my parish, we celebrate the Divine Liturgy of St. James once or twice a year. I’ve also experienced it a few times in the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, and once in the Syriac Orthodox Church. It is a glorious liturgy.

The best way to answer that is, “When can it NOT be used?”

It has its own Preface that must be used with it, so if there is a Preface proper to that day, you cannot use EP IV. So that limits its use somewhat.

For the record, it’s my favorite. I love its retelling of salvation history.

I think it is okay outside of like higher liturgical times of the year such as what they call Ordinary Time these days.
I’ve heard it used a few times.
But yah it has a preface that can’t be changed and is limited but in general it is beautiful.

It is my favourite too! For the reason you mentioned but also for the beautiful way it is written.

I do hear it reasonably often as the abbey where I go to Mass rotates through all EPs on a regular basis, using IV when it is permitted to do so (i.e. a proper preface isn’t required).

I am not a fan of the Roman Canon.
 
My parish priest generally uses EPII, BUT he chants the entire preface and EP… so I’ll take it. He chants EPI (Roman Canon) on major solemnities (such as yesterday). I’m content with that arrangement.
 
What solemnity was yesterday? Wasn’t it just the Seventh Sunday of Easter in the OF or the Sunday after Ascension in the EF?
 
Ohhh yah I forgot not all places have it as a Obligation Day anymore on Thursday.
