Which Girl's Style Do You Like Best?

Okay, now wait a minute here. As a former goth for half my high school years, (the other half was spent as a grunge-punk) I can tell you that #1 is NOT goth. She looks to…preppy, too colorful. A black (imitation?) leather jacket does not a goth make.
 
#2 is basically my style of clothing (I’m 40 and I homeschool :D). The only differences are no holes in the capris, no stripes on the hoodie and sandals instead of flats. For cooler weather, I switch to non-holey jeans and either mules or ankle boots.

I dress up a little bit if I’m doing something out-of-the-ordinary and I almost always wear skirts to Mass, but my everyday wear would be considered “Very Casual” :o.

I’d say I like 1 most because it reminds me most of how I used to dress in HS. But I had to laugh at the goth comment, I think any Goth worth his salt wouldn’t be caught dead looking like that. Definitely more trendy punk than Goth.

I think # 3 looks…OK but I can’t imagine any kid going to school looking like that especially with the shoes.

2 is more along the lines of typical, at least amongst teens around here.​

I think there are better styles to be had really…

Also, I live in Alaska, and that stocking cap looks like it would be sooooo warm.

As for just plain cuteness, though, #2 has the claim on that.

Ahhh, i remember the grunge days in high school. I loved Nirvana… my friend and i sported the grundge look, with the ripped jeans and converse and flannel… though we graduated in '07!!!

Really? It’s still going on? I graduated in 1994, and it was in full swing back then. Wow. Well, I suppose the grunge music was the ONLY good music to come out of the 90’s, so maybe it has more staying power than I thought.

I still kind of sport the look, in fusion with the “outdoorsy, REI, backpacker” look. As for church days, I wear sort of a vintage/hippy/bohemian sort of fusion. It’s comfortable, modest, and pretty–but has a some character.
 
IMO, the pants in all the styles are just plain ugly. The models are even thin enough to pull off the skinny jeans, I guess, but I still find it a very unattractive look. And the ugly hightop shoes with the skinny jeans?? blech. blech. and the print on the blouse in #3 is ugly… so nope, don’t like any of them.

If I had time (like, 4 hours totally uninterrupted :D) I’d look at all the links the-clothes-police-I-mean-Chevalier posted…😉 yikes, man. although, I suppose it’s nice to get a man’s opinion!

I wear jeans and t (long and slightly fitted) almost every day, but NO flannel, and either bell bottoms, or boot cut jeans.

Just reporting what my niece thought. I usually consider goth to be more black and pierced.
Back in the day there were no goths, they were called d-rockers. Are the 80’s really that far in the past? Oh well, my daughter thinks I’m older than dirt.
 
How in the world is #3 slutty?

I mean, I’m sorry, but my gut reaction to that comment is that your niece just hates pretty girls who know how to dress, out of jealousy.

Not too far in the past as far as I’m concerned. But I graduated in the early 90s, so I remember atari, Mary Lou Retton, and “Frankie says relax” t-shirts.

When I was in high school, the whole goth thing was just starting to rev up in my part of the world (Alaska). I don’t think we actually were called “goths,” per se, just dark, morbid, weird, freaks, vampires…
 
I like number #3. I like the girl-cut top. The slacks though look more like tights. Comfortable but immodest.
 
I like 2 and 3. Number 2 I’d prefer if there were no holes in the jeans. I just personally wouldn’t spend tons of money on a pair of jeans with holes. It’s also close to what I wore a lot to work or at home prior to being pregnant. I like Number 3 as well because it’s cute, especially the blouse and I have also worn things similar to this to work. Although, if this is for back to school, you would not have caught me dead walking to class in heels, especially back in college. Very impractical. My legs don’t look good in skinny jeans, so I might wear fitted black pants, but not with the ankle cut that this outfit has.

Number 4 reminds me too much of what I would sometimes wear in the 90s when grunge was in. I look at photos of myself and I looked like a lumberjack, borrowing the old flannel shirts from my Dad (which were usually about 15-20 years old). I did prefer wearing that stuff in our mountain place and it worked up there because the clothes were very durable.
 
4 is too boyish,but i like the style with white shirt and blue jeans.
 
Put different pants on #2 and I would choose her, but frankly they all have something about their styles that I really don’t like, so I say none.
 
i love 3 except, like a lot of other people said, the pants are tight. Also the heels are high…i could definately walk in them but they aren’t practical.
I like #1 because its something you could wear often to normal everyday stuff. plus its practical and stylish…
 
Where is option #5?

Given only these 4, I vote for look #4. At least it’s function for working out in the yard!

Yeah, the whole d-rocker thing was past by then. The culture was built on Mutually Assured Destruction and that idea that we should party today because tomorrow might never come.

By 1990 Reagan, JPII and Maggie Thatcher had won the cold war and the commies were on the run. Too bad that didn’t last.
 
number 2 also is the closest to what i would actually wear day-to-day,hehe…
 
Can I choose none? Two of the styles are too grungy–ripped jeans, baggy sweaters, knit hat. #3 is a bit too revealing–especially with the high heels.

Perhaps if we switched the flats from #2 onto #3 or #1 (and loose the weird scarf), then they would be OK.
