Why is Therese of Liseux an inspiration for everyone?
Her very humbleness for one - showing us how we can achieve sanctity even amid ordinary circumstances and ordinary tasks. She is probably the most relatable of the saints you’ve listed for most of us.

Then again, there’s also part of me that’s attracted to the big personalities as well - the martyrs, rebels and world-shakers like Paul.

Saint Francis of Assissi. I was born 4 October 1944, and I love animals. Also, I may join the CFP in 4 years, which is based on rules of St. Francis.

My 3 cats:🙂

Max 13 year old male Maine Coon

Silver 11 year old male Silver Tabby DSH

Fluffy 11 year old female all-white DSH, half-sister to Silver.

All 3 cats altered, all kept indoors 24/7. Max adopted 3 years ago, Fluffy and Silver 2 years ago.

I voted St. Therese, for her humility. I can relate to the little way.

But really, my favorite is St. Joseph. Imagine having to be in his role in the Holy Family. The only one with original sin. Clearly the least of the three. Yet he led that family in obedience to God. The humility, the trust in God, that must have taken for him to be able to be the head of his family boggles my mind. I relate to his “lesser-ness” and am inspired by him to not let my own human frailty keep me from doing what God wants me to do.

Gotta be St. Monica! If it were not for her there would be no St. Augustine.

John Wesley. He was a devout and pious man, with a wonderful wife and large family. His evangelism and concern for the poor of England and American are most admirable. He also wrote some splendid hymns, as did his brother Charles.
He is an admirable Methodist! Even Non-Catholics have some good points!
Yes, although actually Wesley never left the Church of England. He is so closely connected to the Methodist movement that some folks forget that. I “claimed” him both when I was a Methodist and an Episcopalian and do so still even though I’ve left both those Churches.
Let us not forget the extraordinary Susanna Wesley, who raised both John & Charles!! She had, I beleive, 19 children in 20 years. Every single one of them, she educated herself, & every one had an hour each week when she left all her work, just to talk & pray for that child…
What an inspiration for busy mothers!! (Especially homeschoolers!) Surely, her children’s faith was the product of her love & prayers!

I actually voted for St Teresa of Avila; she is my favorite of all…
And let us not forget St Gertrude of Nivelles, patron of “cats & those who love them”–That covers my household!!🙂

St. Patrick, of course. He was a slave in a foreign land and became the most revered on that Celtic island.

John

I agree.

St Anthony of Padua and Padre Pio are my favorites. Both were great miracle workers. Also St Catherine of Siena

My favorite is St. Thomas More, who did everything he morally could to save his life but was still willing to give up his position as Lord Chancellor and martyr himself rather than deny the Faith.

St. Francis deSales because he lived in a time where the world was so spiritually corrupt, not unlike our own. There was dissent in the church as well…and he said, even if we have problems with the clergy…the sacraments are priest proof. Jesus is present, we meet Him in every sacrament, even if the priest is flawed, Jesus is perfect.

Gives me great sense of relief to know this when I struggle with the “politics of church life” Thank you St.Francis

I would have to say Mary is my favorite saint, but many saints inspire me for different ministries that I am involved or interested in.

For example,

Mother Mary - Generally everything.
St. Padre Pio & St. Michael - Spiritual Warfare
St. Francis deSales - Apologetics
St. Cecil - Music ministry

I chose St. Therese of L. becuase of her humility too. I try to model her acts of love toward people who are hard to love and find that it really brings great blessing into my life. Also St. Monica, becuase she was the mother of a saint and with persistant prayer, prayed her son to the faith!

Wow! Therese in the most inspiring Saint on this Poll so far. Maybe I should read her book. What is the name of her books?

Francis of Assisi.

He gave up all to be in the most perfect imitation of Jesus that he could, and did everything in his power to live the gospel message.

I also identify great with St Peter in his brashness. In particular with his “stepping out of the boat”, only to sink from lack of faith. I have found myself in that situation way too many times. :o

Pope Saint Pius X- a great promoter of orthodoxy and of reverence in the liturgy.

Saint John Vianney- a man who defeated the odds by becoming a priest, and had such a great love for the Eucharist.

Saint John of the Cross- Reformed the Carmelites and wrote some of the best spiritual writings I have ever read.

Saint Teresa of Avila- See above

Saint Therese of Lisieux- showed us the “little way” to sanctity.

Saint Thomas More- stood up for the faith even to death.

Saint Bernard- he has a dog named after him and I like dogs.

Saint Joan of Arc- she saved her country and helped strengthen their Catholic identity. Unfortunately it is almost gone now- but maybe it will come back someday.
