Which is your favorite Bible?

If it weren’t for the terrible notes, I’d say the NAB.

Although the Challoner-Rheims Bible does have its own graceful, old charm… 🙂

I started with the nab. Moved to the navarre. Like the rsv as well. I like the nab cross-reference system which is very thorough. For my own satisfaction the anchor bible series in general has provided the most rewarding insights. Some individual editions are more rewarding than others of course. I’ve sampled only a few sacra pagina editions. So far I prefer the anchor series. I highly recommend the Anchor series Amos and Hosea.

Some one on the forum said the best bible is the one you read. That has stuck with me.

I haven’t really had any issues, not really, with the NAB. Since coming home to the Church it’s the one I’ve used. And only in a couple of spots has there been something I was like, “I’m not sure that sounds right.” But otherwise, it’s pretty easy to understand. Which is really one of the important aspect for me. I read it to know how to live and to pray with. I don’t need it to sound ancient or “more spiritual,” yo know?

Is the Ignatius available in an e-reader format? If so you can change the print size to as large as you please. Not *quite * as lovely as the bonded leather, I know, but portable and kinder to your eyes. 🙂

My favourite is the Douay-Rheims as well! My favourite would also be the NRSV-CE Anglicised, if it weren’t for the inclusive language which although is only used when referring to “brothers and sisters”, is annoying and just distorts the text.

SO, my second favourite would be the 1966 Jerusalem Bible.
