I love, love, love Holy Thursday Mass. Ours is very simple. No foot washing, for instance. But there is something very powerful about the Eucharistic procession, and then the transition to Adoration. Sadly, not too many people stay for that blessed hour, but it is absolutely my favorite. As the hour ends, and the priest removes the Blessed Sacrament from the Tabernacle, there is just a little bit of a taste of what the Apostles must have felt when Jesus was taken from them. And no matter what Lent has held for me, there is the knowledge that it is over - good…bad…indifferent.
This year, I’ve arranged to take Holy Thursday off from work and plan to attend the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral with a friend. Very much looking forward to it.
Great question! I’m surprised to see so many other Holy-Thursday-Lovers out there!
