That didn’t work - I assume it is Church Art???

ummm :o I have no clue what I should vote for…I go to Mass…and its a Catholic Mass because it has the Real Presance, (I thought that was all that really mattered anyway:) )

The poster who referred to the Tridentine Mass more like theatre just reminded me of how much I like smells and bells at Mass.

We don’t have incense (but we do have bells!) at Mass in my parish on regular Sundays, but when we do for Easter Vigil, etc…it just simply reminds me that all of our prayers are going vertically up to God…the “smells” just bring for a holier atmosphere to me…

I have seen that “smells and bells” phrase twice now - I like it.

I noticed the painting of Salome with the head of John the Baptist, showed her to be dressed and with the hairstyle of the era of the painter and not of the times in the Bible.

I think of some of the today’s pop star dancers and how if I did the same painting with Salome depicted as they dress I would probably be met with outrage. I wonder if he was met with that same outrage when he painted it.

Being a legit indult group is not easy, we get attacks from the left and the right. We have neocons and liberals saying, shut up and get with the Novus Ordo and on the otherside we have people telling us that we are just being a puppet for Bishop Brown and betraying the Traditional Latin Mass.
You can be left or you can be right! Stand in the middle of the road and you’ll get run over!

and people accuse me of not being progressive;)

I am having cataract surgery on Thursday and then I probably won’t even be able to read what I type for a few days - who knows what new and creative predictions I may inadvertently make then:D
O BOY! Thursday we can look forward to all kinds of fun it sounds like! 😃 On the other hand, we shall be very busy trying to figure out if your progressing or regressing! Thursday sounds like it is going to be a fun day for us. 😉 Seriously though, I hope your surgery goes well and you can see clear as a bell.

Ahh…but I think the model was dressed like a regular woman might have been dressed during the time of the painter. Today’s pop-stars do NOT dress like the typical woman dresses today…they dress much trashier. So, there’s the difference… 🙂

I mostly attend the N.O. Or the Ordo** **Missae, whatever you want to call/abbreviate it as. However I recently just found out that there is an Indult Mass no more than a half hour from me (!). I’m considering going, for two reasons. 1) I’ve never been and I think it would be great to hear it, and 2) I’d actually feel bad not going when there is one so close, especially after seeing that so many of you really really want to go, and can’t.

Also, from the info I’ve gathered, its not as if they celebrate only one Trent-ish Mass every other Sunday or something, but EVERY mass is an indult, even the daily. Which I find exciting. I’m a little scared though, 'cause what if I go, and find it so awesome, that I can’t ever see the N.O. the same way? :ehh:

Then I suggest you not go until you know the faith and the Mass better. Once you know what the Mass is and is not you will not have a problem. You will love them both. 😉

Thanks Marie, but I was being (just) a little sarcastic 😛

Have you been to the Malls lately LOL - depends on what age group - I guess I picked a dancer because Salome was one. The woman in the picture would not be considered modestly dressed either - it was an era where bosoms were okay but ankles were taboo LOL:)

I think you should go to whichever one floats yer boat. As long as we realize and remember that BOTH Masses are equally valid and licit, we should be able to preference one over the other.

And that’s the problem I have with the Tridentine Mass being almost gone from many diocese’s. They offer us little or no choice in our worship style. Some prefer more modern stuff in the vernacular, and some prefer more traditional stuff. Still others like a mixed bag. If we throw away the Tridentine, it’s like throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Marie - I had the right eye done about 6 weeks ago and have 20/20 in that eye now and hope I will in both eyes when I get the left done. However he tells me I will need glasses now to read and so until I get those glasses who knows what I will see or type - and you can look forward to regression and backwards to progression or something like that 😃

By the way, thanks all for your good natured ribbing.
