Hopefully this is in the right place…
I am hopefully getting a new crucifix for my necklace soon, and want to put a medal behind it.

I have heard of ones for Mary and the Holy Spirit. I was wondering what do different ones do for you? As well as do some have certain indulgences attached to them? Which one do you wear, and why??

THANK YOU!!!

The Miraculous Medal.

“O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”

The St. Benedict Medal and the Miraculous Medal are the ‘most popular’ two. The St. Benedict Medal has a prayer of exorcism of the devil, or just protection, and the Miraculous Medal came with a promise from Mary for graces upon those who wear it prayerfully.

Here’s the prayer on the St. Benedict Medal (I love this one, especially the last line)

Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti (The cross of the Holy Father Benedict)
Ejus in obitu nostro presentia muniamur (May his prescence protect us in the hour of death)
Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux (May the Holy Cross be for me a light)
Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux (Let not the dragon be my guide)
Vade Retro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana! (Begone Satan! Suggest not to me thy vain things!)
Sunt Mala quae libas, ipse venena bibas. (The drink you offer is evil, drink the poison yourself.)

And the story of the Miraculous Medal: amm.org/medal.asp Also the website will mail you a free medal. What an oppurtunity, right?😃

My other two favorites are a St. Dymphna medal (patron saint of mental illness… for somebody I know) and St Michael the Archangel, with the guardian angel on the other side.

Make sure you get your medals blessed! Print out the old rite prayers of blessing off ewtn’s website for your priest so you can be sure it’s done right. Wearing the medals unblessed is absolutely pointless

I wear the Pardon Crucifix, Benedictine Medal, and Miraculous Medal… I am considering getting an Our Lady of the Seven Dolors Medal as well… or perhaps a Saint who I am close to… I would recommend this for everyone!
Code:
* Whoever carries on his person the Pardon Crucifix, may thereby gain an indulgence.
* For devoutly kissing the Crucifix, an indulgence is gained.
* Whoever says one of the following invocations before this crucifix may gain each time an indulgence: "Our Father who art in heaven, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." "I beg the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray to the Lord our God for me."
* Whoever, habitually devout to this Crucifix, will fulfill the necessary conditions of Confession and Holy Communion, may gain a Plenary Indulgence on the following feasts: On the feasts of the Five Wounds of our Lord, the Invention of the Holy Cross, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Immaculate Conception, and the Seven Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
* Whoever at the moment of death, fortified with the Sacraments of the Church, or contrite of heart, in the supposition of being unable to receive them, will kiss this Crucifix and ask pardon of God for his sins, and pardon his neighbour, will gain a Plenary Indulgence.
On the back of the Crucifix, on the transverse arms, are the words, “Father, forgive them.” On the long part of the Cross are the words, “Behold this heart which has so loved men.” The Sacred Heart is shown where the two arms of the Cross meet.
