OK. I cannot resist this one with all the talk (sadly started by me:o) about the false report of Mel Gibson making the Fatima Story.

Which of the following topics should the next movie be made about.

  1. *]Fatima (Yes I had to put it first)
    *]St. Francis of Assisi
    *]Pope John Paul II
    *]Maccaabes
*]Events immediately following the Resurrection (i.e. A sequal to the Passion.
    *]Other topic (specifiy)

As for me, I am choosing Maccaabes or rhe Sequal to the Passion.

I would prefer St. John the Baptist, but Mel Gibson did announce the Maccabees.

I think a movie about the life of Pope John Paul II would rock! With all that he has gone throught how could it not?

how about none? less chance of somebody messing it up. and whats the point anyways, we already know exactly what it would be like unless it was done wrong.

I voted St. Francis of Assisi.

He is such an awesome saint and to my knowledge there has not been a movie made about him that really does him justice.

I like Brother Sun, Sister Moon, even if it turns him into something of a flower child, but I’ve come to realize that it is a pretty superficial treatment of his life.

A movie about the Maccabees would be great. The action alone ought to be awesome. I don’t know of any such movie yet.

I would like to see a story done about all those “missing years” of Jesus life… perferably done by Mel Gibson.

I voted “Other” because I would like to see the story of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. What better than the woman that was “touched” by our Lord and instructed her to give us The Devine Mercy, even though we are totally unworthy! The movie would have to be done in a very “Hollywood” fashion to capture all that was given to her.

I saw “Teresa” but was very disappointed. There was soooo much that was omitted from the story. They must have had a very small budget. I kept asking myself…“If I was watching this as a non-believer, would it inspire me to believe?” Unfortunately, my answer would have been no. The movie had a lot of hype, but was not a very good movie. I was more inspired with “The Passion” and “The Nun’s Story” (although I don’t like the ending!), and “Song of Bernadette”.

This is just MHO. 🙂

A sequal to the Passion for Easter sounds GREAT!!

One thing you got to remember, the typical movies is only 90-120 minutes long. They could only put so much into the movie and had to choose what they thought was the most important.

And yes, it was a limited budget, but also, it was targeted at a limited audience. Since I had read A Story of a Soul and was in a discussion group about it, I knew the complete story and why they chose those sections to film. To me, it was an inspiring movie.

I voted Maccaabes’ because I tink it would be interisting and I know very little about the subject. It should also put an end to the anti-Semitic garbage about Mel Gibson.

uhm…i vote all?😃 i think we need some good, gutsy religious movies to counter the spineless hollywood god-talk.

for ‘other’: an adaptation of “the man who was thursday”

Sounds great! That’s a fantastic, wonderful part of the Gospel! It would do amazing things to release such a film, don’t you think?

I would like to see a movie about the prophet Elijah. I think his miracle of the burnt offering of a bull to the Almighty (while the pagans were trying something similar. It was a contest of whose God would accept whose offering) was absolutely spectacular.

There are several other stories about Elijah that were equally impressive.

I would also like them to make a movie about some of the great miracle workers, St Anthony of Padua, Padre Pio (actually some of these saints have so many miracles associated with them that they could be in a whole movie on their own). maybe it could be a TV series on EWTN

Isn’t it a total travesty that the Passion got locked out of the oscars (not even one nomination) while a foreign movie about the most monsterous personality in History (Downfall about Hitler) got a nomination ???

Talk about praising evil and rejecting good !

Hollywood should be ashamed of itself !! … oh that’s right there is absolutely no shame in Hollywood.

I vote for “other” as in St. Clare. We saw St. Bernadette recently and it was very good. Did anyone else here see St John in Exhile with Dean Jones? It is AWESOME and so very good for this Lenten/Easter season.

Happy St Patricks Day, too, everyone!

Off to hoist a pint o’ guiness

Actually it got two… one for make-up and another for musical score.

I think John Debney got robbed, but then again I haven’t heard any of the others…

Also no best director for Mel Gibson was pretty low. But anyway… I saw none of the movies nominated for best picture.

The Hitler one I’m interested in seeing. I’m just glad Kinsey didn’t get much… As far as I’m concerned Kinsey did more moral damage than Hitler. And I’d go as far as to say that more deaths will indirectly be caused by Kinsey rather than Hitler.
