Which mystery of the Rosary do you find the hardest to meditate on?

I used to find the 3rd Luminous Mystery quite hard, I probably don’t have it right but I think I’m getting there.
 
All of them. How do you meditate on a Mystery while praying? If I’m thinking about the mystery then I’m not thinking about the words that I’m saying.
 
I don’t mean that I can’t speak the words, but that I am mindlessly speaking the words if I am focusing on the mysteries instead of the prayers.

For some reason, I can’t meditate on these as deeply as the other three Joyful mysteries. I just try my best and follow along through the scriptural passages. Any suggestions?
 
the “proclamation of the kingdom”; ie the 3rd luminous mystery; it seems like a filler

otherwise i like the luminous mysteries very much 🙂

All of them. I don’t like doing the Rosary. I find it repetitive and half the time I’m thinking about how fast I can be finished. When you think that way it’s probably pointless even doing it.

I suppose many Catholics obviously have a different experience than I. I feel like I’d get more just thinking about the mystery opposed to just reciting 10 Hail Mary’s which I have no idea what the connection is between that and the life of Jesus. And the last two of the joyful mysteries never even appear in the Bible.
 
there is no obligation for you to pray the rosary

if you don’t like to pray the rosary; then don’t do it

although; ipso fact, Our Blessed Mother specifically requested that we do it in Her numerous apparitions @ Fatima

no need to mock the rosary

I assume you’re actually referring to the last two Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary (The Assumption and the Coronation). They are not explicitly referred to in the Bible, but they’ve been carried on by Apostolic Tradition. The Rosary is a beautiful form of prayer that has been promoted by Popes and saints throughout the centuries. When we pray the Rosary, we meditate on the mysteries themselves not the Hail Marys. They connect to Jesus because it was Mary’s “fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum” that brought our Redeemer into the world. All of the mysteries connect to the various events in the life of Jesus and Mary.

I agree with you that one is not clear at all, especially since different sources cite totally different Bible passages to explain it.

I would say the third luminous mystery as well. I usually think about one of the parables that start with “the kingdom of heaven is like…” I’m not really sure what I’m supposed to be meditating on.
 
First off; I love the Rosary. It is a beautiful and powerful prayer and it led me to being a better Christian and into the Church and into the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary. Second; I think the Proclamation is easy. It’s about meditating on the Sermon on the Mount and especially the Beatitudes. The Mystery I personally have the most trouble with is the fourth Luminous; the Transfiguration. I see the Adoration and the call to holiness in it; but how do I connect and relate to Jesus, with His Transfiguration?
 
I actually don’t have a problem with it. I tend to meditate on each of the Beatitudes
 
The fourth Glorious - Mary’s Assumption. I just don’t know enough about it to be able to meditate on it.
 
Think about how Mary’s earthly life ended in such a beautiful and holy way, and pray that your earthly life may end holy and surrounded by your loved ones. God loves Mary so much, that to fulfill her Immaculate Conception he assumed her into Heaven in order to preserve her holy body from the decay of death.
 
Interesting. I always think of Jesus’s sermon on the mount during this mystery, which is in the Bible. Dividing the fish and bread and feeding a huge crowd. I thought that was what was being held up in this mystery. Is that not the case?

The last two joyous mysteries are in Luke.
I suppose you mean the last two Glorious mysteries? But we believe much that isn’t explicitly stated in the Bible, and indeed the coronation is at least implied.

You can’t figure out how it leads you to Christ? That is simple. “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with you; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb”. This is an early form of the prayer.
Now look at the difference: “Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus”
Notice how the prayer is from Scripture. It’s putting Scripture verses together. Then we add the Mary at the beginning. And this leads to Jesus at the end.
Then we add the petition, that Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.

Allow me to ask you, how did the world come to Christ? Through Mary and the Holy Ghost. “Incarnate by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary”.
Her soul magnifies the Lord. And still, the Holy Ghost and the blessed Virgin bring the person to Christ.
We believe that God shows His Glory throughout His Creation. Hence dulia. Hence hyperdulia.
It is not God and then any creation takes away from the glory of God. Saying a sunset or a mountaintop is beautiful is not saying God is not beautiful: it glorifies Him as the source of all beauty. Saying the blessed Virgin is full of Grace is not saying she herself by her power is full of grace. It is glorifying God for He has created such a creature, and blessed her so much, for He is the source of all Grace. Saying one does good is not praising him, but praising the Source of all that is Good.

Mary takes our pitiful, dirty prayers, and shines them, presenting them up to the Lord. You do not merely go to a king with your request.
God is the Source of all virtue and grace. Like a treasurer, tradition holds that Mary is allowed to distribute these graces, she has been called the neck between the Head and the Body.
She is also our spiritual mother. All generations shall call her blessed. How can you possibly get to know someone but not their family?

All of creation is full of His Glory. And the Rosary is a Marian devotion, one that is full of graces. So much it is ridiculous. I honestly can remember only one single day wherein I mortally sinned and also prayed the Rosary, and that was due to my saying the Rosary early in the morning and the sin was at night.
 
From a prayer book, about the Presentation, meditate on Jesus and Mary’s obedience to the Law, Jesus’ sacrifice of His Humanity in the Temple, Mary’s sacrifice of her honor, the joy and praise of Simeon and Anna the prophetess, the ramson of Jesus by the offering of two turtle doves, the slaughter of the Holy Innocents by Herod in cruelty, the flight of Jesus into Egypt through St Joseph’s obedience to the voice of the angel, His mysterious stay in Egypt, His return to Nazareth, His growth in age and wisdom, and I also advise the illumination of pagan Egypt by Christ,
And for the finding in the Temple,
Our Lord’s hidden, laborious, and obedient life in the house of Nazateth, His preaching and finding in the Temple by the doctors, His baptism by St John the Baptist, His fasting and temptations in the desert, His admirable preaching, His astonishing miracpes, the Selection of His 12 Apostles and the powers He gave them, His marvellous transfiguration, the washing of His Apostle’s feet, the institution of the Holy Eucharist, and also consider the worry of Mary as she presumably knew the pain and struggle the Messiah would face, had it already come? And her relief at finding the Son in His Father’s House.

I don’t do the optional Luminous mysteries, but for me I think the hardest to meditate on is the Crowning with thorns.
 
Thanks for those thoughts, I’ll try that today.

As for the Crowning with thorns: think about how the soldiers mocked the divinity and kingship of Jesus by weaving a crown of thorns, and pray for the strength and fortitude to persevere in the faith even when you are mocked for it.
