No one has suggested it was.Obviously you have no idea what I believe even though I have stated it
**Apparently I don’t when you state that the cathechism says that nothing in the Gospels can be taken literally. **
. The Commission is the one that defined fundamentalist as sola scripture.
**Of course it did not. Sola scriptura means only scripture. However, Fundamentalism refers to a belief system where any document or documents is used as the complete revelation of God and it is inerrent. For Jews this would be the OT and perhaps the Misnah, for Muslims is the Quran, For non-Catholic Christians it is the Christian Testaments, for Catholics it would be the Testaments plus tradition and dogma. It is the COMPENDIUM of documents which any religion considers sacred. **
You wish to ignore that to better fit people into your misunderstanding of what fundamentalist are. It is more than the belief in the Bible as being literally written.
**That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to explain to you. Its much more than just a belief in sola scriptura. Its a mental state of mind as well. Again, I’ve given you plenty of references. **
It is this more that you fail to recognise. You fail to grasp that there are places in the Bible that are literal. Jesus did rise that is a fact.
Absolutely right. I have never said that this is not correct, nor again have I stated that any of the nativity accounts are incorrect. You continue to try to place on me what what I have not said.
What Jesus said and did is what the Bible said He did. He is not myth.
**Of course he is not a myth. What an incredible thing to even suggest. As to whether the bible accurately reflects everything he said and did, I have my doubts. **
You fail to understand that the Bible is written in many forms including facts, things that really happened.
**You continue to mis-state what I have said. I’ve ALWAYS claimed that the bible has many written forms. That is the point here after all. Much of what it reports appears most true and has been verified independently by archeological and other written sources. **
It is not history as we understand history today and that was not the purpose.
**Absolutely right. **
If you don’t believe in a literal Curcifiction and Resurrection than it make Jesus false.
**Who here has said this? **
No one has disputed what the Catechism says. They have tried to make the Catechism inconsquential while raising others to infalibility that the Natvity didn’t happen that it was just a myth but they can’t back it up with Church teaching because the Chruch teaching is the Catechism and it says differently.
The Catechism is not the last word in what the Church teaches. It is a tool for teaching.
There are many different types of Scripture including Sacred Myth but that does not mean that the entire Bible is written in the same way.
